Final Fantasy VI launches on Android tomorrow By Adam St. Amour on January 14, 2014 at 3:56 PM

The mobile “remake” of Final Fantasy VI will be available on Android devices starting tomorrow in Europe, Square Enix has revealed today. Arriving with updated visuals in the style of the previous Final Fantasy V release, FFVI is set to be priced at £10.99/€14.99 and carry with it an interface more suited for touch devices.

The game will also be available for iOS devices and for release in North America some time in the future. Square Enix has yet to announce any plans regarding the release of those versions but details should be shared likely sooner rather than later.

The Final Fantasy brand is finally over. Maybe next decade!

It’s over, period. Square Enix lost their last ace, and that’s the end of their profitable hopes and dreams.

It’s not hyperbole, it’s not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for Final Fantasy. Square Enix has nothing left, nothing they have can fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for anyone, hardcore or casual, to substantially invest in a Final Fantasy series. Except if they want to play Final Fantasy XV. Which will never come out.

There may be some hardcore gamers that stick around. Some did it for FFXIV too. But the last bell tolled. Maybe next decade.

The age of Final Fantasy is done.

Whether *fans* want to shit on this or not, it provides an opportunity for newer fans of the series to play the classics that are oh-so-good (?) and with that said, I’m totally buying it.
    Bite me.

  • Sapientia

    Mm. Not really.
And forget the original FFXIV. Have you even played five minutes of FFXIV:ARR?

  • James Stine

    >It’s not hyperbole
    >It is LITERALLY it for Final Fantasy
    >Final Fantasy XV. Which will never come out
Great facts you’ve got their to support your big claims here.

Was this game being released on iOS the last straw? Or was it one of the other mobile games that have been being made for the past few years now? Those were fine, nothing to say about those?

No, it IS hyperbole, I mean you basically outright say that it’s hyperbole when you say XV will never come out… NEVER come out.

Your overly dramatic post isn’t fooling anyone. By all means, support your argument, but feeding us empty statements about the state of their financial situation and their “ace” as it were is not evidence that supports any claims of what you’re saying.

One little thing that bothers me about these remakes. The GUI sticks out too much. Those blue buttons should have had something less like a modern shiny button and more like something out of a Final Fantasy game… The fonts and the GUI is what they always mess up.

Don´t make dissensions for others. you should say: There is no reason left for me to substantially invest in a Final Fantasy series, not to anyone.

Don’t make decisions for others. You should say: There is no reason left for me to substantially invest in a Final Fantasy series, not to anyone. You don’t know us, so how do you know what we want?

  • Storm

    I don’t like the sprites.

  • Krijn van Alten

Why those complains about a mobile remake? You can already play this game on the SNES, the PS1, the Gameboy advance (and DS as well) and its on the PSN, which means that you can play It on the PS3, PSP en Vita. Besides that: most people have a phone these days. So I really don’t see the problem.

  • Krijn van Alten

Well, then you don’t buy the game, simple as that. Stop moaning for nothing.

  • Lowe De Leon

I have not posted here for awhile but still keeping track of some news.

You are entitled to your opinions and so does we. And let me just tell you this simply.,…”Your opinion…SUCKS.”

Not a fan of the sprites, but the battle backgrounds are kinda doing it for me.

  • James Stine

I don’t like them either, honestly I feel like the classic pixel look is much better.

  • Randy Marsh

Meh not a fan of the new battle interface, but I shall still buy this!

  • Anime10121

You know, he could not like the sprites, but still be interested in the game itself. A criticism isnt “moaning over nothing” as its legit, and its his opinion, that I also seem to carry. I do however lover the background art, I just cant do the touch controls, so its a no buy for me 🙁 If I could use buttons, I’d likely rebuy it for the new art alone…

I’ll grab it. I’m always down for any FF on the go. (And I have a Galaxy Note II which means nice big screen for me. YAY!)

  • Krijn van Alten

I am playing Final Fantasy Dimensions now on my phone. And I have to admit: it doesn’t work as perfect as with buttons, but it works fine.

  • Anime10121

Tried that too, but kept touching the wrong thing by accident (ex. touching wrong magic during battle etc). I actually bought the entire Dimensions game, but due to the touch controls, cant stand to actually PLAY it 🙁
