    Po po , po po!!

  • Ryuukishi

Wasn’t Japan supposed to get a new crop of DLC garbs this month?

  • FinalFantisiac

    Oh nice!

  • Kupo! 🙂

New PS3 themes?! Sweet. I wish those were unlockable bonuses as they were in the first 2 games, but whatever. I’ll take it.

  • OmegaSin

No trailers to go with this ? I’d like to see the costumes before buying them. :/

Am I to take from your comment that there aren’t any unlockable themes at all in LR ? That would be a bummer. I really liked that feature from the first two games. I wished more games would do that. In fact, I am still rocking the Lightning theme from XIII-2 since two years ago, and before that it was Fang and Serah from XIII.

  • artemisthemp

I guess Square Enix decided to sell the Trophy themes for $1.99 instead of attaching them to Trophies in Lightning Returns.

I love that feature with unlocking themes also.

  • Storm

Lightning is amazing even in a silly moogle dress.

  • Ryuukishi
  • Ryuukishi

Yes, it is lame. No unlockable gamerpics in the 360 version either.

  • Ehren Rivers

Instead of unlockable themes, for some reason they give you unlockable adornments. The Black, White, Red, and Blue Mage caps are all locked to specific trophies/achievements, and the Platinum trophy unlocks a garb (which still unlocks on the 360 version if you have all achievements).

  • Ehren Rivers

These were already released a while ago in Japan so there’s a Japanese trailer floating around. There are pictures of the Garb, dunno why they weren’t all included in the article. If I wasn’t posting from my phone I’d edit them in for you, but a quick google search should find you the screenshots you need.

Omg finally! <3 I need the Moogle garb in my life.

  • Sothe Zephyr

I officially hate taxes. $4.10 in my microsoft account. CANT BUY BECAUSE OF TAXES -cries-
Seriously…i wish that taxes would be included in the price like…dont tell me i can afford it but then cant…….

  • RoxasXIIIK

    Dat moogle outfit tho! 0.o

  • Somber

Moogle Lover garb is amazing. Both Ultimate Savior and Divine Wear has unique and max-leveled abilities but I hate Ultimate Savior’s sword and shield. They reduce so much of Lightning’s maximum HP. 🙁

  • Alleo

Oh *_* Going to buy these three today. I was afraid that they would not be released outside Japan but thankfully that didn´t happen. Can´t wait to run around with them, hopefully some NPC leave some comments ;D

  • SazhKatzroy

ahh I completely forgot about trophy-related awards… ha I knew I was missing something lol. Haven’t seen you in a while Ehren! Shot you an email a couple weeks ago, but I recently read what had happened to you. I had no idea. Hope everything is okay on your end!

  • SazhKatzroy

These were pretty cool. So what are the chances Lightning might receive the outfits/weapons from the other playable characters from XIII?

    Just a random thought…

  • Sothe Zephyr

Well when you NG+ the HP can stack up so maybe thats a reason? haha

  • Sothe Zephyr

Well seeing as Japan didn’t really release anything of the sort i doubt NA will receive such things 😛 Although id love a Snow Ice Staff DLC weapon and a Brynhilder gun/staff weapon <3

  • Sothe Zephyr

I really loved unlocking the pics for 360…..was something addition and cool…..its so weird without it haha

  • Sothe Zephyr

In other news: I FINALLY HAVE MY CE WOOOOOO! The artbook is awesome! the pocket watch is pretty cool haha ;D Omg i love it!

  • Divine Wear… -95% HP if you equip the sword and another -95% HP if you equip the shield. Double whammy. I had 100 HP after equipping them. Hehe. I haven’t tested the defensive properties of the shield, though. Maybe it makes up for the low HP. *shrugs*

  • Ehren Rivers

Oh, did you? I don’t think I got it. The email is [email protected] if you’d like to send again. For the moment I am posting from my phone, until my computer monitor gets fixed. Should hopefully be soon.

  • Somber

    Even in NG+, it didn’t. @[email protected]

  • Ehren Rivers

95% is a LOT of HP, especially twice. Even when you reach the maximum HP the game allows without Limit Break (50,000), equipping one of those items puts you at 2,500 HP. Equipping both will knock you down to a mere 125. The Cosmocrator schema is highly technical, requiring you to play defensively (the shield has something like 800 base guard defense I believe) and time your strikes carefully to get the most out of your dual-blade weapons.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Wow that is really depressing because i was looking forward to the Cosmocrater…ITS SO GODLY! But now is it really worth the $4? Seriously like….thats the one i was going to buy and like……ugh…..

  • Ehren Rivers

Cosmocrator itself doesn’t have any of these adverse affects, they are attached to the weapon and the shield. The point of this schemata is that it requires a skilled player to use. If you’re not particularly skilled, then you will probably not end up using the weapon and shield from this DLC. Dual blades requires fantastic timing to use, and the tiny droplet of HP you will have means you will have to probably perfect guard in order to survive.

In fact, this entire DLC pack is based on skill. The Moogle Queen set restores a percentage of your EP on perfect attacks and guards, while the Celestial Body set does the same with HP. Cosmocrator takes almost no damage from guarding correctly, and the amount of damage the Crocea Mors weapon can do with perfect timing is downright insane.

Is it really worth the $4? Absolutely. Is it worth it for you personally? That’s a question only you can answer.

  • Sothe Zephyr

Ah okay…i see. Thanks Ehren 🙂 Can i also ask you a garb question? While looking through my lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, art book, i came across one or two garbs i really liked, they weren’t alternative sketches or anything, could you help me out?

Id also like to say that, speaking of dual blades, i was very disappointed with Odin’s weapon and Double Deity….they didn’t really live up to their names….While Double Deity has awesome Mag…the stagger rate….and Odin’s weapon….that str loss and stagger rate…..

  • Tinye

Grats dude. I finally beat the game today, only took me 68 hours 😛

  • Tinye

There is some voice over work in combat as well. In the moogle outfit, Lightning’s like, “I AM serious!” lol great stuff

  • Tinye

Just so you know, since the dual blade weapons attack twice that is the reason your str cuts in half by 50% usually. It’s actually the same amount of damage you’re just attacking twice. It more than makes up for it. Stagger rate shouldn’t matter for those weapons because they will mostly be used with Attack, Light Attack, Heavy Slash. Those skills aren’t for staggering they’re for raw dmg output.

I’m trying to think of the perk with the double attack, technically since you cap at 5000 str, with the dual bladed weapons you can go up to ‘10000’ str because it cuts your str in half, even if you had 5000 str with the dual blades it would be in reality 10000. I suppose that’s a bonus 😀

  • あかりん (Akarin)

Studying prevented me from completing the game, but last night I finished 1st time normal, 45 hours. What I don’t get is that the world is supposed to be extended until a max of 13 days, but I got it to 14?…Anyhow the ending was very good, I thoroughly enjoyed it as well as the epilogue – the CGI there was absolutely brilliant!. The only thing that I didn’t catch was what happened to mog and the eidolons? I assume they were reborn probably? ! I am glad for the 4-5 years of spending time on the Lighting Saga, guess I must move on now to the much awaited FFXV whenever it will come out. Personally, I feel LR was let down by its technical issues, but that aside, it was provided sufficient closure to the trilogy.

  • Did you talk to Hope in the Ark after you extended time to a 14th day? He explains how that was possible…

In their world, clocks used to have 13 hours, not 12, so somewhere along the way, days lost those 2 extra hours (a day would’ve been 26 hours instead of 24).

So… At the end of the 13th day, because you gathered enough eradia over the span of 13 days, the world gained that “lost time” back, and therefore, you extended the world’s time for an extra day.

  • あかりん (Akarin)

Towards the end of the game I skipped quite a lot of “trivial” conversations by pressing A on xbox remote. And I remembered in the beginning (of game) Hope also talked about clock hours so I figured why not skip it (dialogue)? But thanks, I did look on the internet as well, apparently I missed the dungeon of Last Ones, although in truth I skipped the 13th day by staying in an Inn for a day. I had used chronostasis so much that I completed a lot of quests and by that time I felt I might as well hasten the inevitable (I wanted the world to actually end now!). Hahaha, but goodness me [Insert final boss name] took me a few tries, especially his 4th form. Who knew using the spell ruin was actually vital to keep up the stagger time of the waves? The whole A,B, C, D, E of the stagger system finally made sense…albeit at the end of the game. I don’t like playing with strategy guides, much more fun to get lost and find your own way. The biggest shock was obtaining the reward for those 4 trials at the final dungeon…very pleasant shock 🙂

Edit: Ultromega, I liked your question for Ali Hillis on that interview not too long ago!

  • The question from the FFUnion podcast? Hehe. Thanks. I was fishing for a more serious answer, but I love how Ali had a funny response. 🙂 I submitted questions for their podcasts with Jessica Dicicco (Lumina) and Julie Nathanson (Chocolina) as well. Regardless of whether or not my questions are asked, I’m looking forward to both.

The reward for the 4 trials on the final dungeon… Imagine trying to fight the last boss without that? One of these days, I’m going to try taking on the boss on Normal without going through the trials. I managed to do so on Easy during my first playthrough of the import, but it was still a rough battle.

Are you going to try a playthrough on Hard? You get better garb, better gear, oh, and the last boss is pretty much impossible to beat on Hard without several playthroughs under your belt.

    *end spoilers

  • あかりん (Akarin)

Are there other podcasts as well? Must definitely get those! By the way are fluent in Japanese like Erren if you have played an import game? Well I am certainly looking forward to the hard mode and even if I fail it will be worth exploring the game for in depth, although I will have to wait until June holidays. Studying actuarial science is taxing and my fear is that I will have to pack my Lightning themed console away for good, in other words Lightning Returns might be my last game ever…but such is life. Oh in case you didn’t know, I am jaundré, used to have Caius pic and non stop commenting…, just changed my name.

  • Their podcasts with the voice actresses of Fang and Vanille are up. 🙂

No, I don’t know Japanese, but I got through the import fine by trial and error.

Last game ever? I’m sure you’ll have some time to still play. Good luck with your studies!

  • あかりん (Akarin)

Haha thank you, although you will still see me around from time to time. Right then, off to the podcasts!

  • gdfgdfg

Lighting isn’t very curvy at all lol. It’s like looking at a very skinny man with the face of a women.
