Watch 20 minutes of World of Final Fantasy gameplay

Square Enix took the stage last night and revealed the first world premiere in-development gameplay footage of World of Final Fantasy during their Jump Festa 2016 events.

The video – which we’ve linked below – features a couple of battles in dungeon known as “Forest of Lights” as main characters Reynn and Lann accompany Final Fantasy X’s Yuna and summon Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. The stream also showed off a bit of the game’s monster capturing mechanic, which uses items called Gems that allow the player to capture and use monsters to trek through locations.

While classic Final Fantasy characters appear in super-deformed style, both main characters Reynn and Lann can switch between small and bigger size at any time during the game. Smaller characters can ride monsters and when you’re big you can stack monsters on top of you, which will affect stats and abilities in battle.

World of Final Fantasy is set to launch for PS4 and PS Vita in 2016.
