Hidden between the larger titles at New York Comic Con last week, fans and media alike had a chance to get their hands on A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV – a 16-bit companion game set 30 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV proper. Polygon has gone up with the first nine minutes from the game, featuring side-scrolling action against the backdrop of a bedtime story told by King Regis to his son Noctis.
A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV is currently a free bonus for those who pre-order the game exclusively through GameStop stores. It’s unknown if or when Square Enix plans to offer it as a separate, paid download.
Final Fantasy XV is due out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29.
