Tetsuya Nomura to attend Monaco Anime Game International Conferences 2017 By Erren Van Duine on October 20, 2016 at 12:24 PM

Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura will attend Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) – set to take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco on February 18, 2017. An announcement on the official event site promises more information at a later date.

For those unaware, MAGIC is a public event featuring all things Japan and other comics including manga, animation video games and pop culture. Along with panels and special guests, fans can participate in activities such as cosplay as well as video game and manga creation contests.

The event is being organized by Shibuya Productions, who are currently working on Shenmue III.

Maybe the release date for the first episode will be announced then.

  • Krijn van Alten

In 2017 it’s the 20th birthday if FF VII and also the 30th birthday of the series as a whole, so it’s much more likely that SQ is going to create its own event, rather than use this small and unknown game show as a podium.

  • Hope so. Also hope that it’s only 3 episodes in all. Each about 50hrs.

  • Does Nomura decided what he wants to attend or does his bosses the CEOs tell him where to go and what to say? I mean if it’s up to him I’d say “I’m not gonna do interviews until we have something to actually discuss. Don’t make me go if I can’t answer questions.”

And nothing of value will be said by him lol.

    exactly my thoughts

  • Martian Wong

    Well, one can dream.

  • Invictus

And that “nothing of value” will be said in lengthy speech or interview. lol

  • Justice V

    Possibly to promote KH 2.8?

  • KH2.8 is out in mid-Jan. But yeah. Likely.

  • Krijn van Alten

Normura decides nothing on his own. There is a whole PR team behind this all who decides what he does when it comes to SE promotion.

  • Okay, so why do they keep sending him places to do interviews even though he’s not allowed to say much upon arrival? That’s my question. It seems pointless. Save money. Don’t do any interviews until most or at least half of what people will likely ask can be answered.

This event is far to low key for major announcements. So either it’s just to ptomote kh OR to follow up on FF7 which will have a major announcement BEFORE this date (likely PSX). If Nomura is confirmed to be heading to PSX, it’s on.

  • What for? To announce that he has things to annouce? To say that we have things to look forward to? To bring us more vague information about his titles and tease us for ”next winter”?

It will be better if he stays on his office working hard on all the games he has been involved into.

  • I got my games reserved. If there’s new stuff then tells us. But if an event for games that are gonna be out by time this happens, that’s weak.

Sometimes it’s better to wait. I am getting a vibe these games he’s going to discuss won’t be out for a while.

  • That’s fine. My plate will be full from not till March. XV, Berseria, P5, KH2.8, post game stuff of GEResurrection and GE2, Exist Archive, and maybe Horizon 0 Dawn.
Of course I would drop half of that if FF7R released in at the start of 2017 but it’ll never happen.

Holy heck that’s a lot of games! I tend to be a completionist so Ive been uber slow at beating games recently.

  • I understand. A roommate of mine is trying to platinum a lot of stuff. Namely both GE games. But too me as long as I can get the story and beat some hidden bosses and get rare gear I’m fine. I’ve never platinumed a game. Its too hard. Especially Tales games.
