Final Fantasy XIV is getting a PlayStation 4 Pro patch

Final Fantasy XIV is the latest title set to receive support for Sony’s upgraded PlayStation 4 Pro hardware, producer/director Naoki Yoshida revealed during a post-Fan Festival press conference today.

With the departure of the PS3 version, it’s only natural the team would consider expanding upward with additional specs at hand. “Rather than using the PS4 Pro’s power to adapt to say 4k display, we’re thinking of using it for game performance,” said Yoshida. “We’ve begun work on a Pro patch and hope to have details soon.”

And what about other potential platforms? All the same, Yoshida wants to see the game on as many as possible but with certain caveats. “The one condition we have is that we can continue the cross world matching going. If we can clear that, then a version on [Nintendo] Switch is something we’d consider.”
