Square Enix establishes Studio Istolia for new RPG "Project Prelude Rune"

Ruune_02Square Enix has revealed an all-new RPG project alongside the formation of Tokyo-based development team Studio Istolia. Their concept is being called “Project Prelude Rune” and is being helmed by former Tales of series producer Hideo Baba and artist Toshiyuki Itahana.

According to Square Enix, the project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life. Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just—and this is their tale.

The studio name itself comes from the Greek word for “story” – an element central to the development team’s philosophies. Their goal is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players and deliver new game experiences to those around the world.

Square Enix is currently recruiting for various positions – the bulk of which can be viewed at the official Studio Istolia website here. Further details on “Project Prelude Rune” will be revealed at a later time.
