Square Enix is bringing Star Ocean: Till the End of Time to the PlayStation 4 as a PS2-on-PS4 title.
Releasing in 2017 in Japan, the digital-exclusive title is releasing as part of Square Enix’s Ultimate Hits HD collection series and will take advantage of the PlayStation 4’s PS2 emulator to up-render the game in full HD with reduction in jaggies and improved lighting. The version will also support trophies, share features, remote play and, as an added bonus, removes the inconvenience of disc-changing and lengthy load times.
To be specific, the company is emulating Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Director’s Cut, which was released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan back in 2004. The version, however, is based on the North American and European versions of the game, which is bundled with bonus content that wasn’t available in the original Japanese release such as new characters and dungeons.
