Shinji Hashimoto says 2018 will be a big year for Final Fantasy with new titles in development

It’s the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy and we’ve experienced some of its celebration with the releases of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, and more spinoffs. In an exclusive interview with EDAMAME Arcade Channel, Final Fantasy brand manager Shinji Hashimoto has teased that the celebration will extend in 2018, with Square Enix teams working hard on new Final Fantasy titles.

The interview mainly focuses on the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game’s current performance, and he talks a bit about the series’ future plans at the end of the video.

Square Enix has definitely teased about gearing up with big preparations for E3 2018 in their recent financial report with major titles slated for announcement, and now we’re certain some of these could be new Final Fantasy games. Maybe it’s fair to start crossing fingers for the reveal of the next mainline number or big spinoff now.

Square Enix plans to announce major titles from the end of 2017 until E3 2018
