Square Enix announces lineup and events for Gamescom 2018

Square Enix has officially announced that they will be attending Gamescom 2018, which will be held on August 21st to the 25th at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

In hall 9.2 at booths B31/41 and C30/40, Square Enix will be bringing nearly 200 game stations for fans to play a variety of demos for their upcoming titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Kingdom Hearts III and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive age. Also in attendance will be Final Fantasy XIV with another new, intense challenge for fans to enjoy. And more!

Kingdom Hearts III will be bringing two playable demos: Facing against the Rock Titan from Walt Disney’s Hercules and exploring the new world of Toy Box, a world based on Disney Pixar’s classic title: Toy Story. Visitors will also be able to take part in picture opportunities that include a giant Keyblade and Andy’s room.

Life is Strange 2 is also coming to Gamescom 2018 as a world premiere! The development team will not only share details about the highly anticipated sequel, but it will also be playable for the first time at the Square Enix booth on the Gamescom show-floor.

Final Fantasy XIV will be bringing quite a bit to the show, with intense challenges and prizes. Fans will be able to take on Byakko and Tsukuyomi Extreme and Extreme Roulette for a chance to win T-shirts and a towel. PVP events will also be scheduled as well, alongside a cosplay costume contest and special stage shows starring Director/Producer Naoki Yoshida and composer and sound editor Masayoshi Soken. The Final Fantasy XIV stage events will be streamed live on the official Final Fantasty XIV Twitch channel.

A special promotion for anyone making a new FFXIV account at the Square Enix booth will grant them a free copy of Final Fantasy XIV Starter Edition! For more details on prizes and events, check out the official website.

The Final Fantasy XIV Eorzean Symphony will also have its premiere at the Konzerthaus Dortmund on August 24th and August 25th. More information can be found here.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s attendance has influenced the design of the Square Enix booth, with an area set up in the style of a Mayan pyramid with numerous game stations, allowing fans to play the demo version of Lara Croft’s newest adventure. Dragon Quest fans will get the chance to play a new extensive demo of Dragon Quest XI, which will showcase many content improvements and brand-new voiceovers. Just Cause 4 will also be at Gamescom this year as an exclusive presentation.

In hall 5.2, at the Square Enix Products booth, fans will be able to purchase various exclusive merchandise including figures, accessories, jewelry and board games of various popular Square Enix brands. A new Square Enix Music booth will also be present, and will offer exclusive signed records.

And of course, the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game will be available for guests to play as well.
