    Not as good as DQVIII

Nice. Was going to get this on PS4 but I don’t have the time. Now I will while commuting!

    I think it was better.
DQVIII had the luck to launch internationally with an orchestrated soundtrack, and that’s it. This game is extremely solid, well designed, with an amazing cast, and its ties with the original trilogy of the NES days really made it shine.

I was 17 when DQVIII came out. I remember adoring it and loving everything about it. Now, at 31 I played DQXI and I absolutely hated it. I thought the characters were stupid, that plot had a ridiculous amount of filler, and the game design was dated for the sake of being dated. Transferring items between characters is one example that is over convoluted for absolutely no reason, other than being archaic.

DQXI is not what I expected from a 14 year wait.

This is the bad thing that happens when people had “expectations”.
Next time, don’t expect things before buying a game, you know, open your mind.
