Following the game’s showing on the company’s E3 2019 broadcast reveal, Square Enix has revealed the main voice cast for Final Fantasy VII Remake due out for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.

Looking at the list below, it’s confirmed that neither of the original voiceovers from past titles related to Final Fantasy VII will be reprising their roles for the remake. Instead, Square Enix are opting for a whole new voice cast to handle the beloved characters.

  • Sad. Good bye all the voice actors I loved.
With these new ones they’re just gonna use them to replace the existing ones in Dissidia and KH games. Or other cross overs.

Worse of all, no reason was ever really given.

  • alef321

    they sound perfect.

  • This is my problem. I wanna know the reason why, and not a bs one.

  • レン

    * main English voice cast
Gimme Japanese, please. Really can’t give a chocobo’s tailfeather about English voices in a Japanese game, least of all in this one.

  • Randy Marsh

Japanese cast: Same as AC for all the main characters.

  • What reason did they give?
Since most of them came from Teen Wolf, bet it’s just to use star power to sell the game more. Execs and PR people are pretty un-caring to fans. If it makes money they do anything and feel nothing when we complain.

  • Wazi the pa

Apologies! We’ve updated the post. Yes, the game will also feature Japanese voiceover.

  • Jesus Christ

Did they fix cloud’s sickly looking arms?

  • That’s not the problem. The problem is they got rid of every single original English voice actor without so much as a reason for it.

  • I can expect change better when the reason for a change is given.
When businesses do things and never say why it leads us to assume it must’ve been due to pure money and trying to trick new blood into buying the game.

  • The only people who are anime voice actors are side characters like Jessie and Biggs.

  • Because the voice director told them to imitate the original voice actors. And even then Sephiroth doesn’t sound scary anymore. He sounds like a generic guy making his voice deeper as he scolds his kid

    I heard.
I’m speaking mainly from FFXV english vs. japanese and basically all anime english dub vs japanese dub hate… but in this case yes, that’s BS

  • I can’t have Japanese voice because how would I read the subtitles during a fight scene. Even in English dubs that’s hard and their voices get muffled all the time due to sound effects. People act like characters talking during lots of action and battles is great. But it’s not. Lots of times in games I miss lots of dialogue as it spins across the screen fast and you miss lots of plot and joke and banter.

  • But I want to know who’s to blame for that. Because Japan is pretty loyal in these type of situations. Someone like cloud would have never been recasted in Japan unless he really really needed to be. (I could be wrong and he might have a different va in Japan)

So this must be on the Western side of business that made this. Aside from that, what was the point of asking Steve to do the first trailer if they were just gonna change him out?

It’s really silly to nit pick about this I know but I think it sucks more for the VAs who are attached to these characters if anything.

  • I bet they had a falling out with an agent or a CEO decided he knew better and wanted to make waves by redoing the whole cast. Just so a bunch of “younger prettier” people would be on the casting couch when it came time to do interviews. It’s likely something that shallow and weak.
Exactly right about Burton for the 1st trailer. likely someone changed it after that.

  • Dustin McFadden

My only guess about them recasting everyone is the fact that everyone is much younger here and haven’t went through all the stuff they had already went through in Advent Children.

  • fish8100

I quite like what I’ve heard so far.

  • •december

    you’re just like me

  • Yeah. When a fight happens I never can hear what the cast says as .humble thru the fight
