Final Fantasy XIV in talks to release on Xbox One family of devices

During the Microsoft X019 event in London, Square Enix revealed that a number of classic and modern Final Fantasy titles will be launching on Xbox Game Pass in 2020, with the MMO titles noticeably absent from the list. But that may change in the near future for Final Fantasy XIV according to The Verge, who discovered that the popular online RPG is currently in talks to make its way to the Xbox One console family, possibly through the Xbox Game Pass.

“I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will be bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox,” said Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer. “We have a great relationship with Yoshida-san and we’re working through what it means to bring [to Xbox] a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years.”

Although no further information or release date were given, Spencer says that the company plans to have the game launch on Xbox One devices “at a later date,” giving Xbox players who want to delve into the world of Hydaelyn, and beyond, something to look forward to.
