Here's a look at the world (and loot) of Outriders

Outriders is described as a “dark and desperate” shooter/RPG hybrid developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix. In a new trailer, we get a glimpse of the in-game environments from Enoch, an alien planet to which you are transported:

During today’s panel at PAX East 2020, lead narrative designer Syzmon Barchan (Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment, Fortnite) and writer Joshua Rubin (Assassin’s Creed II, Telltale’s Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead) set up the world of the game.

Rubin explains that the Outriders are pioneers set to colonize the world of Enoch after Earth becomes inhabitable. In that effort, they encounter an “Anomaly” that hyper-evolves any living creature exposed to it into a malevolent “Altered.” In addition to that, a mysterious signal calls out to them.

The world will have hubs in a wide range of environments where you can set up camps as part of a travelling caravan of Outriders. You’ll be able to take on quests and side-quests to explore these areas and decorate your truck with the bones of your enemies. You’ll be able to revisit previous areas to compete even more quests. A “World Tier” system has been developed where your skill level will scale the difficulty of enemies you experience in the world, granting better loot.

The team shares that you’ll be able to play through the beginning to the end of the story in a single player or co-op experience and that there won’t be any micro-transactions — that “everything is in the box.”

Outriders is announced for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC at Holiday 2020.
