Drakengard 3 launches today in North America

Drakengard 3 is out today in North America, exclusively for the PS3 and available on both physical and digital formats. As a prequel to the original Drakengard for PS2, Drakengard 3 follows the paths of six goddess-like sisters known as “Intoners” undo the peace they brought to the land as the eldest sister, Zero, undertakes a murderous campaign to destroy her younger siblings. With a story that offers many twists and turns, players will find themselves unraveling the mystery of Zero and her true intentions.

Coupled with a new launch trailer, Creative Director Taro Yoko talks up a bit of the game’s combat as well as his work across both Drakengard and 2010’s Nier.

Those who want the full experience can grab the digital Collector’s Edition off of the PlayStation Network, which includes One’s Prologue, Japanese Voice Pack, the NIER Costume Pack, Mikhail’s (the dragon) Giant Baby Hat, Caim’s Garb, and six PS3 themes bundled at $64.99. Individual DLC is also available, including the Japanese Voice Pack, Manah’s Garb for Zero (from Drakengard 2), two music remix packs that change certain tracks in the game to either the original Drakengard titles or NIER. More DLC is planned to be available soon, including the Intoner Sisters’ Prologue stages.

We’re working on our own review of the game to be published momentarily, but in the meantime you can catch the newly prepared launch trailer below.
