Alongside the opening of over 100 new job positions, Square Enix is financing the expansion and renovation of the Eidos-Montréal facility with an additional 10,000 square feet being added onto the 55,000 square-foot office. The studio is planned to be equipped with a user research laboratory, a mixing and voice recording studio and studios dedicated to performance motion capture and photogrammetry. The Square Enix Montréal studio is also seeing an expansion, and the facility plans to double in size over the course of 2019.
Square Enix’s Canadian workforce consists of nearly 700 employees and represents the largest development unit for Square Enix outside of Japan. The company has invested in Quebec for over the last decade and is dedicated to continuing their investments in the coming years.
