Marvel's Avengers E3 Q&A - Day 2

The Marvel’s Avengers team just finished up another Q&A session for Day 2 of E3. There will be one more Q&A session for tomorrow, the last day of E3.

What is this game?
It’s a single player narrative driven cinematic game, but it’s also a hybrid. Events take place which split the Avengers apart. The story takes you to different places playing different characters. You can choose how you want to play these missions with which character as you unlock them. You can play alone or with your friends. There’s a lot of choice in how you can play the game.

Why aren’t these the MCU characters?
We wanted to create an original Avengers story. Their uniforms, their choices are all around our story. We cast everyone differently, pulled information from the comic books, worked with Marvel to get the best choices for this story.

How many more heroes will be added post launch?
We plan to release additional heroes and regions at regular intervals at no additional cost. We’re excited to add characters from the Avengers’ roster spanning over 80 years of history. This story allows for quite a diverse cast of heroes.

Can you talk about the diversity of regions?
The Avengers are a global team. We want to add areas that can span across the globe and fit well with the different ways characters can traverse across these areas.

Can you control them freely or are you limited in movement?
In certain story situations where you will be restricted in a linear fashion, but outside of that you’ll have free movement across these areas.

Does gear affect the stats of your character?
There’s cosmetics that don’t affect the gameplay, but there’s also a gear and progression systems that do affect the gameplay. We wanted to separate these two to allow you to look the way you want and play the way you want. Also, no pay to win.

Are missions based on specific heroes?
The narrative dictates which hero you play as.

We saw Iron Man in space. Is this an explorable area?
We can’t speak about this right now. He is in space, it is awesome, but that’s about all we can say.

Will there be free roam?
You can roam freely in these level regions.

Will there be vehicles?
The characters have their own traversal methods to get around that are unique to each character. Although, it would be pretty cool to see Hulk driving a car.

Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. PlayStation 4 owners will get access to beta as well as other unannounced perks
