Story

A sequel to The World Ends with You, a new cast of characters finds themselves cast into an alternate dimension of Shibuya where they are to play in the deadly Reapers’ Game. Rindo and Fret team up with Minamimoto and Nagi to form the Wicked Twisters, in an effort to climb the leaderboards and avoid total erasure.

As Rindo progresses through the Reapers’ Game, he starts having visions—fragmented flashes of incidents that may soon occur. In one such vision of the future, he sees a ghastly sight: the entire city of Shibuya, crumbling into dust… Is this an unavoidable outcome, or can Rindo change the fate of the city? Are the Shinjuku Reapers—whose own home was recently destroyed—in any way involved with Shibuya’s impending doom?”

Supporting Cast

Coco
CV: Kitana Turnbull

A Reaper girl who does as she pleases, spending most of her time in Harajuku. She has little interest in her Reaperly duties, sometimes even wandering outside Shibuya. Despite her delicate appearance, she is actually quite cunning, deceiving others to help get her way—but she remains deeply loyal to her friends. She was with Neku and Beat when a certain post-Game incident occurred three years ago.

“You have no friggin’ idea what I’ve been through to get here, you festering sack of garbage!”

Eiji Oji

A top influencer who blew up a few years ago thanks to his nonchalant charm and half-hearted demeanor. Recently, he has taken the world’s young generation by storm with his calm and lazy attitude.

“This flower’s almost as lovely as you ladies—almost.”

Eiru

A popular streamer who charms his audience with his
unique, high-pitched voice. He only grew comfortable with
his voice thanks to Eiji Oji, however, and now hopes to
collaborate with him someday…

“Why do I have to sound so different from everyone else?”

Ken Doi

Although he previously ran a ramen joint, a few twists and turns led him to shift his focus to curry. He is currently trying to rebrand by opening a new restaurant: SPICY CURRY DON.”

“I’m gonna make a curry that’s all my own!”

Ryoji

Shibuya’s handyman who undertakes any task imaginable, from the unbelievably simple to the unspeakably seedy. Born with a strong “sixth sense,” he is deeply connected to the UG.

“Hey, you’re just in time!”

Imprinting & Sidequests

The Wicked Twisters team has their own unique talents that are activated when they become part of the Players’ Game. These talents can be exerted over the people back in the real world to imprint ideas or remember lost information. Often times, the part of playing the Reapers’ game will involve the manipulation of others’ minds to help you proceed forward.

These talents will also come in handy tackling the game’s sidequests, which will feature you helping the people of Shibuya with their problems, or even some of the Reapers themselves. Completing these quests will update the Social Network section of your menu, from which various rewards can be obtained.

Team Battles

In battle, you can control up to six characters at once. You can play casually by pressing buttons randomly to watch flashy animations, or you can strategize on optimal psych deployment to burn down enemies quickly. In the field, combat begins when you come into contact with a Noise symbol. Collect multiple symbols and you will enter into Chain Battles, where each successive battle becomes more difficulty and more risky. However, greater rewards await those who take up this challenge. Beware: your team’s HP does not replenish between rounds.

Pig Noise

You may come across a special Pig Noise icon while travelling through Shibuya. When you take these Noise on, you’ll have a limited amount of time to defeat them to obtain special rewards. While some Pig Noise are relatively easy to quiet, there are others that will resist certain types of psychs. You might need to edit your loadout of pins in order to claim victory.

Pins & Psychs

Equipping pins to each of the Wicked Twisters will bestow upon them the ability to use battle Psychs. Some pins have the “Uber” classification, which are more powerful than your garden variety. Certain pins can also have a synergistic effect when certain other pins are equipped, which the game calls “Pin Ensembles.” Some ensembles may only require two pins, while other may need up to six pins.

Pins can be levelled up by collecting “PP” in battle, gaining power in the process. This includes faster reboot times and better stats. Some pins may “evolve” when they hit their level cap, and take on a new design and new properties.

• In the Snipeline: A pin that will fire “Homing Rockets,” a series of missiles that chase after your enemies. Change targets while charging to lock onto multiple foes.
Heartful Hotdog: A pin that activates “Protective Field,” a barrier that temporarily nullifies incoming attacks while damaging any enemies it touches.
• Raven: A pin that unleashes “Patrol Rounds,” a flock of bird-like boomerangs that fly toward your enemies before returning back to you.
