Final Fantasy XI's August Update continues The Voracious Resurgence

Final Fantasy XI‘s August 2021 update has arrived, and with it comes the fifth chapter of The Voracious Resurgence which will see adventurers travel to Aht Urhgan. Previous chapters have taken place across Vana’diel, each with their own scenario.

In addition to some small systems updates, Square Enix is also holding several in-game events and promotions.

Update Summary

  • A new chapter has been added to The Voracious Resurgence.
    • Players must speak with Ghatsad in Aht Urhgan Whitegate (I-7) after having completed the quest Raubahn the Blue to progress.
  • The monthly Records of Eminence objectives have been swapped out.
  • Ambuscade has undergone the following additions and adjustments:
    • The foes in Normal and Intense Ambuscades have been swapped out. *As such, the corresponding Records of Eminence objectives have changed.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable for total hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for badges of gallantry have been swapped out.
    • The HP of the Vengeful Citrullus has been reduced.
  • New items have been added.
  • Additional items are now storable via the Porter Moogle.

Ghatsad

Known as the father of the automatons, his work in bringing them to life has seen him moonlight as an expert in imperial cultural treasures.


Megomak

“This moblin, who serves a troll mercenary troupe, is a skilled alchemist whose research into chimeras keeps him busy at all hours of the day.”


Ramuh

“A philosopher spoken who, according to the legends of the Ramuh constellation spoken of in a nation lost to the ravages of time, is said to have created vehicles that harness the power of lightning.”

Events & Campaigns

Sunbreeze Festival & Green Festival
Between now and August 31, players can participate in exciting shows and parties in several locations throughout Vana’diel, as well as receive awards and items.

Bulk Up This Summer Campaign
Starting August 12, players can look forward to several campaigns, which will award players double to triple the normal amount of chain experience and capacity points, as well as improvements to players’ alter egos’ stats and many other bonuses to help quickly strengthen and level up characters.

August Login Campaign
Players can receive numerous awards that they may have missed from May to July through the new login campaign, including Red Raptor Mount, Silver Gun and Leafkin Bed. (Pictured below.)

Summer Alter Ego Extravaganza
For the month of August, special alter ego ciphers are making an epic comeback for a limited time so players can flesh out their rosters.

Return Home to Vana’diel
From Friday, August 13 and through Monday, August 23 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT), players who are taking a break from FINAL FANTASY XI are invited to come back and experience the August update at no cost.

Discount Campaign
From Friday, August 13 through Tuesday, August 31 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) the Vana’diel Collection 4 is available at a discounted price. Similarly, the World Transfer Service will have reduced prices for players to take advantage of joining their friends who reside on different worlds.

Final Fantasy XI is now available on Windows PC.
