Final Fantasy XI‘s September 2021 update has arrived, which continues The Voracious Resurgence scenario and updates various systems including Records of Eminence and Ambuscade.

Square Enix also has an updated slate of events and campaigns with in-game rewards.

Update Summary

  • A new entry has been added to The Voracious Resurgence storyline.
    • To receive the quest, players must speak to Tateeya in Aht Urhgan Whitegate (I-7) after having completed the quest The Revelation.
    • The story will proceed once the player has examined the ??? in Arrapago Reef (H-10) after having completed Tateeya’s quest.
  • Records of Eminence has undergone the following additions and adjustments
    • The monthly objectives have been swapped out.
    • New objectives will be unlocked once certain conditions are met.
  • A new designation has been added.
  • Ambuscade has undergone the following additions and adjustments
    • The foes in Normal and Intense Ambuscades have been swapped out.
      * As such, the corresponding Records of Eminence objectives have changed.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable for total hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for badges of gallantry have been swapped out.
  • Level adjustments have been removed from the following areas
    • Arrapago Reef / Alzadaal Undersea Ruins / Beaucedine Glacier / Palborough Mines
  • The respawn rate of some monsters in Alzadaal Undersea Ruins has been sped up.
  • The Voracious Resurgence
  • Ambuscade – Cockatrice

Events and Campaigns

Blazing Buffaloes Seasonal Event – From now and through Tuesday, September 21, at 7:59 a.m. (PDT), wild buffaloes will prowl a number of areas across Vana’diel. Players who round them up and bring them to the nearby moogles can earn a variety of rewards, including the Buffalo Cap, Drover’s Mantle, and Drover’s Belt equipment, as well as a number of other items. Day of the Shadow Lord – Through Thursday, September 30 at 7:59 a.m. (PDT), players will occasionally receive the Shadow Lord’s storied great sword, Lament, and his swords, Nihility and Extinction, as spoils for completing the Shadow Lord Battle battlefield.

September Login Campaign – Players can receive various rewards by logging in each day and collecting points to exchange for prizes, including the Cancrine Apron. (See pictured.)

Equipment Boosting Campaign – Beginning Monday, September 13 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and through Thursday, September 30 at 7:59 a.m. (PDT), a number of campaigns will be underway to assist players on their journeys in Vana’diel. Adventurers can enjoy increased drop rates on seals and crests, additional item drops from certain enemies, and other various bonuses for the duration of the campaign.
