Dragon Quest X Offline planned for February 26, 2022 release in Japan

The tenth numbered title in Square Enix’s Dragon Quest series is a bit of departure from the norm. Developed as a MMORPG instead of a single-player title, it originally released the Nintendo Wii in 2012 and has since been ported to the WiiU, Windows, Android, iOS, 3DS, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It’s also had four major expansions with content patches in between (think similarly to how Final Fantasy XIV‘s content cadence is deployed.) Version 6, the sixth expansion, was also recently announced.

Recently revealed at the Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary broadcast, Dragon Quest X Offline is pretty much what it says it is – an offline version of the MMORPG that can be enjoyed solo. This version also features super-deformed characters in fields and battles are visualized in a more traditional turn-based fashion. Today, we learn that it is planned to release on Feburary 26th, 2022 in Japan for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

While no international release for the Online version came to be, hopefully the Offline version will have a new opportunity to make its way to long-awaiting fans.
