Final Fantasy XI's November Update continues Voracious Resurgence, adds Master Levels

Final Fantasy XI‘s November 2021 update has arrived, and with it comes the sixth chapter of The Voracious Resurgence which will see adventurers travel to Reisenjima. Previous chapters have taken place across Vana’diel, each with their own scenario.

In a larger-scale features update, a new job advancement system called Master Levels has been implemented. This new progression will allow you to power up a job that is mastered, thereby increasing basic attributes and the maximum level of a support job.

In addition to some small systems updates, Square Enix is also holding several in-game events and promotions.

Update Summary

  • A new chapter has been added to The Voracious Resurgence.
    • Players must speak with Reikuu in Reisenjima (K-8) after having completed the quest The Sea Sage as it is prerequisite to accept this latest quest.
  • The quest ‘Inside the Belly’ has undergone the following additions and adjustments
    • Additional fish are now valid turn-ins for the quest.
    • Additional rewards have been added.
    • The chance to receive an item will now increase when a bigger fish is traded.
  • The quest ‘Apocalypse Nigh’ now has a wait time of one Vana’diel day before the player is able to progress.
  • The ability to start the process for reforging item level 119 relic equipment to +3 has been unlocked.
    • Players will be able to begin the process by defeating a certain number of Squadron enemies in Dynamis -Divergence.
  • The ability to start the process for reforging item level 119 artifacts to +3 has been unlocked.
    • Players will be able to begin the process by defeating a certain number of Sweetwater or Transcended enemies in Omen.
  • The anniversary event ‘Mandragora Mania’ has been added.
    • Players can enjoy the minigame by speaking with the Mandragora Assistant in the following areas:
      • Southern San d’Oria (K-10) / Bastok Mines (I-9) / Windurst Walls (C-12)
      • Ru’Lude Gardens (G-9) / Rabao (G-6) / Mhaura (G-9)
      • Eastern Adoulin (H-10) / Chocobo Circuit (H-9) / Mog Gardens
    • Jingly and Rewards
      • Players will earn a special currency known as jingly through the course of playing the game.
      • Jingly will be reset every month.
      • Players will be able to receive rewards by reaching certain jingly thresholds.
      • Rewards may be reset once in the following month by paying 10,000 gil to the appropriate NPC. (Players will be able to enjoy the minigame even if they do not reset the rewards.)
  • The monthly Records of Eminence objectives have been swapped out.
  • A new designation has been added.
  • Ambuscade has undergone the following additions and adjustments.
    • The foes in Normal and Intense Ambuscades have been swapped out. (As such, the corresponding Records of Eminence objectives have changed.)
    • The notorious monsters Blazenought and Frostnought in Intense Ambuscades have been adjusted.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable for total hallmarks have been swapped out.
    • Certain items obtainable in exchange for badges of gallantry have been swapped out.
  • Monster spawn locations have been adjusted in the following areas.
    • Promyvion – Holla / Promyvion – Dem / Promyvion – Mea / Promyvion – Vahzl / Alzadaal Undersea Ruins
  • Alter Egos have undergone the following adjustments.
    • The shields equipped by the following alter egos will now have increased attributes if the person who called them forth has an item level of 100 or higher.Kupipi / Curilla / Trion / Mhili Aliapoh / Valaineral / Mnejing
      Lhu Mhakaracca / Rahal / August / Yoran-Oran
    • The shield equipped by AAEV now has increased attributes.
  • A new function has been added to the Search feature.
    • Players can now search by master level.
    • Players are able to switch to Master Level view from the search results window.
      • This feature can be activated by pressing the switch active window key/button to toggle between level and master level. Players will be able to toggle to master level view on the search results screen if they meet the following prerequisites.
      • Be in possession of the Master Breaker key item.
      • Be of main job level 99.
      • Have achieved the job master status for their current job.
  • New Level Sync functionality has been added.
    • A master level sync feature has been added. Players will be able to set a master level sync in addition to the standard level sync if the following conditions are met.
      • Be in possession of the Master Breaker key item.
      • Be of main job level 99.
      • Have achieved the job master status for their current job.

Master Levels

  • A new system, Master Levels, has been added.
    • What are master levels? Master levels are a new job advancement system for those jobs for which a player has achieved job master status. Increasing one’s master level will increase both basic attributes and the maximum level of one’s support job.
    • Unlocking the Master Levels feature. Players must speak with the Nomad Moogle in Ru’Lude Gardens (H-5) after meeting the following conditions in order to receive the Master Breaker key item.
      • Be level 99 in your current job.
      • Have achieved job master status in your current job.
    • Gaining master levels. Players will earn exemplar point by defeating enemies while the following conditions ar
      • Be in possession of the Master Breaker key item.
      • Be level 99 in your current job.
      • Have achieved job master status in your current job.
      • Defeat enemies whose strength as displayed with /check is Easy Prey or higher.
    • Increasing Your Master Level. Your master level starts at 0. Your master level will increase when you accumulate a certain number of experience points, and you will receive the following benefits.
      • For every mastery level you earn, you and your pet’s basic attributes and combat/magic skill caps will be increased.
      • For every five mastery levels your earn, your support job level cap will be increased by 1.
    • Notes
      • Enemy strength as displayed by /check only serves as a rough guide as to whether or not you will earn exemplar points for defeating a foe. Note that enemies who /check as “Took Weak” may still yield experience and limit points.
        * The monsters to which the above applies will be marked as “Very Easy Prey” in the December 2021 version update.
      • “Style-change” abilities such as Composure remain unusable even if your support job is level 50 or higher.
      • Exemplar point gains are unaffected by rings and other equipment earned from various campaigns that confer a bonus to experience point gains.
        * Note that corsair roll effects are properly applied.
      • Players will lose a certain amount of exemplar points if they are defeated.
      • Master level can decrease when knocked out if the amount of exemplar points lost would push them below the threshold of the previous level.
      • A certain amount of lost exemplar points will be returned if a player is brought back from the brink by effects such as the white magic spells Raise and Reraise.

Events & Campaigns

A Challenge from Lion Returns
Between now and August 31, players can participate in Beginning today, players can attempt to overcome the trials posed by Lion—your stalwart ally against the Shadow Lord—and her allies to receive special rewards. Players can obtain the trigger items required to participate in the event through the November 2021 Login Campaign point exchange, with a number of weapons available as rewards for completing the content.

November Login Campaign
Players can receive various rewards by logging in each day and collecting points to exchange for prizes. November’s campaign features a number of mounts available for purchase, including the Iron Giant, Golden Bomb, and Dhalmel mounts, alongside a number of other items and equipment.

Winter Warm-Up Campaign
Beginning Thursday, November 11 and through Tuesday, November 30 at 6:59 a.m. (PST), a new set of campaigns will be underway to assist players on their journeys in Vana’diel. Enjoy strengthened alter egos to aid you in battle, doubled badges of gallantry in both normal and intense Ambuscade difficulties once per day, bonuses to Mog Gardens, and much more.

Final Fantasy XI is now available on Windows PC.
