Chocobo GP launches March 10, 2022 for Nintendo Switch

Upcoming kart racer Chobobo GP is set to launch for Nintendo Switch on Match 10, 2022 Square Enix announced today. Players can join up with Chocobo and friends in various challenging courses inspired by various Final Fantasy series locations. A free-to-download version called Chocobo GP Lite will also be available at launch.

The release date announcement trailer features a look at what players can expect when the game launches next year. New game modes in addition to the Story and 64-player tournament mode include:

  • Time Attack: Players can challenge themselves to beat their personal best times on various courses. Players can also asynchronously race against others from around the world (Nintendo Online required) to get the best time.
  • Series Race: Players will compete for the top spot in a series of four races; can be played alone or with friends.
  • Custom Race: Players can create their own challenging races with custom rules, both alone and with friends.

In Chocobo GP Lite, players can experience the Story Mode’s prologue and can participate in local and online multiplayer with up to 8 people so long as it’s hosted by a friend with a full version of the game. Additionally, save data can be carried over from Chocobo GP Lite to the full game, ensuring players can seamlessly keep any items or currency.
