Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster launches February 23

After a short delay, fans can finally get their hands on the last of the Pixel Remaster series with Final Fantasy VI. The game will launch on February 23 in North America for PC via Steam and mobile platforms and features a number of additions including completely new characters and updated audio.

Specific improvements to the game include:

  • Universally updated 2D pixel graphics created by original character artist Kazuko Shibuya.
  • A rearranged soundtrack overseen by Nobuo Uematsu.
  • Improved gameplay, including modernized UI, auto-battle options and more.
  • Supplemental extras like the bestiary, illustration gallery and music player.

Players who purchase FFVI via Steam will receive a number of bonuses including four wallpapers, five music tracks and 20% off the original price.

The wallpapers, timelapse special tracks, which transition from the iconic original versions to the new arrangements, and an instrumental music track are available through early purchase or via the bundle on Steam. The music tracks include:

  • The Decisive Battle (Timelapse Remix)
  • Terra’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
  • Searching for Friends (Timelapse Remix)
  • Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
  • Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental)

Final Fantasy VI can now be pre-purchased through Google Play, App Store and Steam respectively.
