Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin adds new expert jobs, locations and characters

Square Enix has shared another round of media and new details surrounding upcoming action RPG Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin ahead of its March 18 release. This time we’re taking a look at some more new expert job types, new locations found in the game and new characters both enemies and NPC alike.

Characters

Marilith

The Fiend of Fire who uses her six arms to launch a volley of attacks, confounding Jack and his allies with swift movements when she slams down her long tail. It’s best to avoid her Stone Gaze attack.

The Lufenians

Mysterious people who Jack converses with during glimpses of his fragmented memories. They wear strange clothes and it’s impossible to gauge any emotions from their words and actions.

Event Scenes

  • What is the link between the Jack and the Lufenians who gave him the crystal? Beyond this stark and emotionless white room lies a golden meadow.
  • The crystals Jack and his allies possess have some sort of function.
  • Jed is speaking int he meadow – has Jack been here with him before?

Job System

Players have the ability to switch between two different jobs during combat. Because of this, there’s all sorts of styles depending on your set combinations. Expert jobs offer up unique special actions by combining them with equipment and other jobs.

Dark Knight

A job that gifts enhanced attack power whilst on the brink of death. Using the unique action Souleater, a Dark Knight can sacrifice their HP and MP in order to deal additional dark element damage. This is the strongest job in sheer attack power so long as you’re willing to pay the price for it.

Void Knight

A job that lets you catch the enemy’s magic attacks and turn them into your own power. When a Void Knight’s runic is in use, guarding deploys a magic circle that neutralizes incoming magic attacks and absorbs their power. You can use this power to replenish MP or unleash a slashing attack.

Ninja

Ninjas can use various combat tactics with their ninjutsu abilities. By using special ninja tools, you can pin down enemies and apply status effects to weapons without consuming MP. Ninja tools can be replenished by visiting a cube – your basecamp during exploration.

Action Abilities

Action abilities don’t just inflict a large amount of damage on an enemy’s break gauge; they can deplete the maximum capacity of that break gauge too. The further you reduce the capacity of a foe’s break gauge, the easier it will be to break them and use soul burst, which will also replenish your MP.

Locations

Mount Gulg

A dangerous volcano, complete with molten lava that will block your path and gas pockets that explode due to the fire magic in the area. It will be hard to reach the summit unless you can prevent the lava from erupting out.

The Ancients’ Tower

A white, otherworldly building. A number of eerie mechanisms await any unwary intruder – such as devices that trap those who have entered and urn-like objects that float through the air.

The Wicked Arbor

A dense forest that lies at the foot of the volcano. Moonlight only just manages to peek through the canopy and the area is shrouded in thick, gaseous miasma. Walls made of ivy and plants spit the poisonous gas that bars your path.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin launches March 18, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Epic Games Store.
