Final Fantasy XI‘s March 2022 update has arrived, and with it comes returning Ambuscade bosses and additional monsters. Producer Akihiko Matsui and director Yoji Fujito host the latest video digest that walks us through the details.
For Ambuscade, Volume One will feature Antica and Volume Two will feature Treant. These are returning bosses, but in this iteration the Treant’s mechanics and HP have been eased. The concept of the encounter is the same, and is based on the blooming window of the cherry blossom tree, a Japanese tradition. Players whose food effects are stolen by the boss’s Chelate will be able to deal greater damage during the occasionally recurring “flower-viewing time.” Producer Matsui advises to prepare some meals when taking on this challenge.
The team will also implement additional monsters by adding them to the Crawler’s Nest [S]. These monsters will be in the area beyond a door that has, up until now, been previously sealed. You’ll be able to tell them apart from the existing monsters by their color. Exemplar Points should be easier to collect than battling monsters in Promyvion or Alzadaal, and there will be monsters that will be a great source of Job Points.
Regarding the Voracious Resurgence, the second half has been delayed to the April update due to an unexpected issue — it had previously been planned for the March update. The team wants to avoid the risk of problems arising from the content, and thus, delayed it.
The Final Fantasy XIV collaboration will return in Final Fantasy XI starting on March 22. It last ran in 2017, and features devious spriggans that invade Vana’diel from Eorzea, and players can earn gear from the event.
The We Are Vana’diel interview series’ latest entries Square Enix alum Masato Kato, who worked on several games including Chrono Trigger and Xenogears providing lore and scenario planning. He worked on the main scenario for Final Fantasy XI up to the Rise of the Zilart expansion, as well as the add-on scenarios: A Crystalline Prophecy, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat, and A Shantotto Ascension. Vana’diel Cherry Blossom Screenshot Campaign

Running from March 11 to April 2, earn points to collect various rewards by logging into the game. This time around, the special item is a ♪Byakko mount available for 500 points. You can earn points until April 2, and exchange them up to April 9.
