Theatrhythm Final Bar Line shares more gameplay styles, ProfiCards, season pass info

New information for Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, a rhythm game set to the Final Fantasy series expansive musical catalogue, highlights some new and returning features.

As you unlock songs, you’ll be able to freely select them in the ‘Music Stage’ mode, where you can toggle how each stage is sorted — by title, series and more. Favorites can be selected here and a ‘Random’ button will let you spin the wheel and play from your list of unlocked stages.

Different modes include the standard style, but also a ‘Pair Style’ that will let you co-op on the same screen. One player will take the upper lane, while another player will take the lower. Additionally, there’s also a ‘Simple Style’ which will let you play with just one button, which is handy if you want to get in on the rhythm action but directional swipes are difficult.

ProfiCards, or “profile cards” have been spruced up a bit where you can view yours or others’ gameplay records and customize the icon and design. A summonstone can be attached to your ProfiCard, where after a Multi Battle in multiplayer, you’ll receive that player’s summonstone.

We also get a look at the different editions of the game, along with a Season Pass that will add music from other Square Enix franchises like the SaGa series, Mana series, NieR series, and more. Take a look at the details below.

Theathrhythm Final Bar Line will release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2023.

Music Stages

In this mode, you can freely play any tracks you’ve unlocked. Aim to beat your high scores or play however you like!

You can sort all the tracks you have unlocked by name, series, or other groupings, making it easier to find the song you want even as the available track list grows.

Styles

There are various on-screen indicators that will direct you how to respond to each input:

Red Touch Triggers — Press a button

Yellow Slide Triggers — Tilt the stick in the direction of the arrow. When there are two arrows, use two sticks.

Green Hold Triggers — Press and hold a button for the length of the Trigger, and release at the end.

Green Hold-Slide Triggers — Press and hold a button for the length of the Trigger and tilt the stick in the direction of the arrow at the end.

You can play any song in one of three different Styles.

Standard Style

The core play style of the game using the standard controls.

Pair Style

A style that lets two players play together on one screen. In a BMS or FMS, each player takes either the upper or lower lanes. In an EMS, they take either the left or right lanes.

Simple Style

A style that uses simplified controls, letting you play with just a single button.

ProfiCards

ProfiCards contain a player’s personal gameplay records. You can customise the icon and card design to your liking. Create your own unique ProfiCard to swap with other players!

You can also set a summonstone to your ProfiCard. After a Multi Battle, you exchange ProfiCards with other players, giving them the attached summonstone. You keep the summonstone even after giving it to other players.

Features 104 characters from across the Final Fantasy series

Characters can be obtained by unlocking their associated title in Series Quests. You can also obtain enemy characters by clearing the final stage for each title!

FINAL FANTASY XII — Vaan, Ashe, Balthier, Fran, Gabranth
