Front Mission 2 Remake delayed for improvements

Front Mission 2 Remake was set to release on June 12th, 2023, but has been delayed until the third quarter of 2023 according to Forever Entertainment in a press release today. Developed by Storm Trident, the game is a remake of the original 1997 PlayStation game which was the first iteration to include 3D models and a rotating camera.

The team stated the delay was to make sure that the team has “time to add as many functionalities as possible while proceeding with proper implementation and tests” so that they can meet players’ expectations for a remake.

From Forever Entertainment:

“As the premiere date for FRONT MISSION 2: Remake approaches, we have made the decision to postpone the release of the game on Nintendo Switch. This decision was not taken lightly, but in collaboration with the development team, we want to ensure that we have sufficient time to add as many functionalities as possible while proceeding with proper implementation and tests, in order to meet your expectations for a modern-day remake.

“We understand the anticipation surrounding FRONT MISSION 2: Remake and the excitement you have shown throughout its development. Please rest assured that we are fully committed to delivering a polished and faithful remake of your beloved franchise.

“While we are currently unable to provide a specific revised premiere date, we assure you that we are working tirelessly to complete the project as soon as possible, with the aim of releasing the game in the third quarter of this year.”

Set 12 years after Front Mission 1st in the country of Alordesh, the game centers on three characters embroiled in a regional conflict where the primary weapon of choice are gigantic mechs called Wanzers. Combat is a turn-based affair that takes place on tiled maps, where characters move and take action in phases.

A remake of the first game released in November of last year, and a planned remake of Front Mission 3 is forthcoming.
