Final Fantasy IX collaboration coming to Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis
Ever Crisis Final Fantasy VII will host a collaboration with Final Fantasy IX starting on November 9th. The first cross-series collaboration for the freemium gacha-style mobile RPG will feature boss challenges in the form of the Black Waltz mages, antagonists from early on in FFIX that confront Zidane and company in the attempt to recapture Princess Garnet. In the trailer below we get a look at a few battle scenes, where Cloud and Tifa have new outfits based on Zidane and Amarant respectively. The game features character design by Tetsuya Nomura and 2D illustrations by Lisa Fujise. These weapons and outfits will likely come as part of a new "Draw", which can be rolled for using blue crystals obtained by playing the game and red crystals which are obtained with real money. Filling out punches on a ticket when a Draw is performed will progress you along a path towards obtaining these items, but it should be noted that previous tickets require a significant amount of play. Ever Crisis is now available on iOS and Android smartphones; a PC version is currently planned. Final Fantasy IX Collaboration Trailer

Final Fantasy IX Version 1.02 update fixes long-running music bug on PS4 (Update: out on Switch and Android)
Final Fantasy IX's PlayStation 4 version received a new patch today that fixes a long-running music bug that caused background music to restart after battles and Tetra Master matches. Why's that a problem you ask? Well, given the game's random encounter system, it became common to hear the same several seconds of music over and over again when traveling through the game's many environments. The most recent patch 1.02 weighs in at around 200 MB and also fixes a few minor bugs including getting stuck on the world map. Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX was recently ported to i0S and Android (2016), PC (2016), and PlayStation 4 (2017) Earlier this year it arrived on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Update: Square Enix confirms they are working on a patch for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam platforms. Update #2: Square Enix has released patches for the Nintendo Switch and Android versions of the game that correct this issue. Plans to correct are also coming to the Xbox One, iOS, Windows 10 & Steam versions. Check out the update in the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqQ0ZP2t4xk

Here’s a closer look at Final Fantasy IX’s new features on PC
Final Fantasy IX's recent release on iOS and Android came with a multitude of new features, all of which have transposed to the PC version. That includes updated character models (sans unsightly texture seams in the Android version), the ability to use cloud storage for a single save file. Should you get a game over screen during the game's key boss encounters, you'll be able to continue from the title screen shortly before the boss battle commences. In the video below, we take all these new features for a test drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMUreVPYfa4 High Speed Mode boosts the tempo of the game -- everything including traversing the world map to fighting battles. For those of you interested in Excalibur or Excalibur II runs, note that this mode does not affect the in-game playtime clock. Fill HP/MP/Trance will refill each gauge to maximum in battle, and will send each character into Trance Mode. 9999 Damage Mode will ensure your attacks will inflict 9999 damage. No Encounters Mode will eliminate all random encounters -- bosses and story battles not included. Auto-master

Rare Final Fantasy IX side quest unearthed and documented
A "new" Final Fantasy IX side quest has just been discovered by some tenacious fans - nearly 13 years after the game's original release. Discovered several days ago by user The_Kusabi_ on GameFAQs, the quest - titled The Lost Nero Family - involves the player's travels to the Tantalus hideout in the beginning of the fourth disc. Unbeknownst to most Final Fantasy fans until now, the player must complete these complicated steps to initiate and fulfill the quest: If you go to the Tantalus hideout at the beginning of disc 4, you will find Zenero and Benero wondering where Marcus and Cinna are. You've likely seen this before, but this is actually the beginning of a side quest. Now, head to Memoria and proceed until you watch a cut-scene or fight a boss. Then head back to the hideout to find Genero wondering where Benero and Zenero are. Then repear this process seven more times and every time you go back to the hideout, you will find a new member of the family. The last five are girls and the final one seems to be a child, as she is
