Valkyrie Elysium free update includes playable Hilde and Seraphic Gate challenge
Publisher Square Enix and developer Soleil have released a free update to Valkyrie Elysium today which includes a new scenario featuring the Valkyrie Hilde, higher difficulty modes, and a time attack mode called Seraphic Gate. This update is available only on the PlayStation platform, but when the game launches on Steam on Friday, November 11th, this content will be built-in. In our review of Valkyrie Elysium, we found that while not aiming to be a direct throughline from tri-Ace's Valkyrie Profile series, the action-RPG well adapts features from the original's turn-based combat into an action format enjoyable through a respectable 20 hour runtime. Check out the latest from what Square Enix had to share below, including a trailer highlighting the new features. VALKYRIE ELYSIUM is getting bigger! A new update is available for the game today, adding a new game mode, new higher difficulty options and an awesome new endgame mode too! Oh, and did we mention: it’s completely free! The new update is available today, and it brings loads of new features to the fast-paced action adventure. Valkyrie Elysium Review
Valkyrie Elysium came as something of a surprise when it was announced in March of this year. Twelve years after Covenant of the Plume and sixteen since the last numbered entry Silmeria, the latest entry in the series was to be developed by Soleil instead of tri-Ace, undoubtedly busy with the forthcoming release of Star Ocean The Divine Force. With so much distance since the previous entry and another developer taking the reins, it felt natural to have some concerns — especially when Elysium is an action-RPG proper instead of a turn-based affair like its precursors. If anything Valkyrie Elysium is aptly-named in a sense that it’s not going for the same things as Profile, despite the window dressing. Really, it’s something of a re-introduction to a fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology, disconnected from the one Lenneth and Alicia inhabit. Many of its elements are an adaptation of Profile’s mechanics to an action-RPG combat that feels like a cross between Kingdom Hearts II and NieR Automata. More on this a bit later, but Soleil is largely successful in creating something that feels good to play first and foremost. To set up the story: after losing a battle against Fenrir, Odin retreats

Field maps also had light platforming and puzzle elements. Valkyrie Profile Lenneth also realeased on iOS and Android mobile platforms back in 2018. Valkyrie Elysium demo launches September 15
Valkyrie Elysium is the latest game to see a demo ahead of launch. Following various leaks, the demo will be available on PlayStation Network starting September 15. As with the current trends, the demo will allow you to transfer your progress to the full game upon release. Covering the game's first chapter, the demo contains a piece of the game taken from the retail version. Players can take control of the characteristic Einjerhar and combo systems, and experience the high-speed movement and high-tempo action using the soul chain. Music by the series' creator, Motoi Sakuraba, can also be heard throughout. While save data can be brought over to the completed version, Square Enix notes that you won't be able to transfer said data between PS4 and PS5 and that some specifications may be restricted in the demo version. Valkyrie Elysium launches for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on September 29. A PC version via Steam will release on November 11.

Valkyrie Elysium release date appears on PlayStation Store
UPDATE: Sony has since revised the store listing to simply "2022" after this initial posting, however a (now delisted) leaked trailer does confirm the September 29 date. Square Enix is teasing the official reveal set for 8PM EDT on July 5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXG0xBnY_zo ORIGINAL: A possible release date for Valkyrie Elysium has shown up on the PlayStation Store ahead of an announcement from Square Enix proper. According to the store page, the upcoming action RPG will release on September 29 - which isn't too far off and lines up with the promised 2022 release date for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The latest title in the Valkyrie series, Valkyrie Elysium features music from series mainstay Motoi Sakuraba and character design by Yuya Nagai of CyDesignation, Inc. Valkyrie Elysium moves the series forward by adding classic mechanics to a modern action-RPG format by incorporating the series' signature Einherjar and combo systems. While this date hasn't been officially cleared by Square Enix as of yet, previous PlayStation Store leaks make it all the more likely. As with the recently dated Star Ocean The Divine Force, a Fall release date seems more than likely here. Some new screenshots were also leaked on the page, which we've posted below.
