Like it or not, Hope Estheim is here to stay in the story of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2.

Even though Hope appears in the game as a guest character, he is quite important according to Yoshinori Kitase. The theme of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is “prayer for revival/rebirth,” and as such, Hope’s connection to that theme is a key point to the plot. Other characters from the previous game will make an appearance as well, however it looks like Hope will by far be the most prominent.
