Dragon Quest Dai mobile game shuts down on April 26
In an official announcement today, Square Enix and DeNA are ending service for smartphone gacha RPG Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai A Hero's Bonds. One limb of a larger multimedia project that includes and anime series (ending after it's 100th episode) and an upcoming console RPG called Infinity Strash, the developers announced that the last day of service will be April 26, 2023. Sales of premium currency have been halted, as well as a "Gold Pass" subscription option. Several updates are planned before service ends, such as the final chapters of the Dragon Tracks and Bonding Journey, and a Treasure Hunt offered with the season pass will also be available to all players along with the associated rewards. The game joins several other recently-ended Square Enix mobile games like Final Fantasy Record Keeper and Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier. Thank you for playing DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds. We regret to announce that DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds will be ending service on 2023/4/26 8:00 pm PDT. We, the development team, would like to offer our apologies to all our players for the sudden nature of this news. Since the game first launched on 2021/9/27, our

Dragon Quest Treasures Review
There is no limit to the cuteness that can be distilled from Dragon Quest. It's there at every turn, with the happy slimes and the clever puns at every corner. It's the perfect playground for a kid-friendly, low-stakes affair, and as you're probably aware, that's precisely what Dragon Quest Treasures has been pitched to be. Developer Tose, the prolific studio behind the Dragon Quest Monsters series and — as it happens — Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, is the perfect pick to deliver a simple tale about siblings Erik and Mia. All the better, then, that the bulk of the game's events occur within another dimension; there's no risk of stepping all over established worldbuilding in the relatively more serious (albeit still whimsical) world of Dragon Quest XI. This newfound dimension in question is called Draconia, and it will, if you'll allow its goofiness to get the better of you, charm the heck out of you at every turn. It's stuffed with references to past Dragon Quest games, from smart little nods for the in-the-know to straight-up character cameos. The result is a veritable feast for any longtime fan, even if some fans will find Treasures' gameplay more of a middling

Dragon Quest Treasures highlights its online features
In the latest Dragon Quest Treasures blog, we get a look at some of the online features the game sports. Erik and Mia, siblings owing their origin to Dragon Quest XI, lead this adventure into the floating islands of Draconia where they'll recruit a party of monster friends and hunt down treasure in the overworld and special treasure dungeons. You'll be visited by monsters your friends have collected, and you can also hide treasure for them to find. Monsters can also travel between bases to show off treasure you've collected, and if other players give it likes, it will increase the item's value. Vice versa, treasures you give 'likes' to will increase their value, and you'll obtain a replica of the item for your collection. Check out the details below. Balan Wonderworld creator Yuji Naka one of two former Square Enix employees arrested on charges of insider trading
Two people have been arrested in an ongoing investigation into insider trading at Square Enix in Japan. Two former employees, Taisuke Sasaki, along with Balan Wonderworld creator Yuji Naka, are accused of insider trading when they received knowledge that Square Enix would partner with developer Aiming for smartphone title Dragon Quest Tact, and proceeded to buy shares in the company. According to Bloomberg's Takashi Mochizuki and his translation of a FNN report, Naka "allegedly bought 10,000 shares of Aiming for 2.8 million yen back in January 2020" when he learned non-public information about the unannounced deal. Together with Sasaki, the two are said to have purchased 162,000 shares for 47.2 million yen. Naka had a public falling out with Square Enix after the poor reception and performance of Balan Wonderworld in which he accused the company of pushing him out of the director's chair after irreconcilable differences arose during development. Square Enix recently released a statement, prior to the update of Naka's involvement in which they confirm the investigation: Concerning Media Reports on Former Employees under Investigation of Suspected Insider Trading Today, some media outlets reported that the former employees of Square Enix Co., Ltd. (hereafter "the Company") were under investigation for suspected insider

Square Enix shares a look at combat in Dragon Quest Treasures
While treasure hunting is at the top of the list of objectives for sibling protagonists Erik and Mia (younger versions of their Dragon Quest XI counterparts and whisked off to the land of Draconia), they'll inevitably and perhaps inexorably be drawn into combat. Not only will they have to deal with monsters afield, rival gangs vie for the same riches the pair set their sights on, so luckily, they'll have plenty of ways to go on the offensive. Erik and Mia can tow along three monster buds who are AI-controlled, while directly controlling either sibling. Monsters will dictate how battles play out, leaving you to skulk around the sidelines and work out surprise attacks, shoot pellets that do special forms of damage (even healing), and giving orders. Chaining attacks in a Monster Medley can also increase the amount of damage inflicted, or using the Dragon Daggers to 'Unleash the Dragon' in a special super attack for massive damage. Medals you find on your adventure can also be equipped to monsters to boost their stats. Today, courtesy of the Square Enix blog, we get a look at the many ways you'll do battle to claim and keep your hard-won plunder. Check out the

Dragon Quest Treasures shows off the lands of Draconia
Siblings Erik and Mia, younger versions of their Dragon Quest XI appearances, are whisked away to the floating islands of Draconia in a new Square Enix spinoff: Dragon Quest Treasures. Here, they'll hunt for treasure, start a gang of monster buds, and even battle enemy treasure hunter gangs while developing their own base and its facilities. Today, courtesy of the Square Enix blog, we get a look at the disparate lands of Draconia that Erik and Mia will hunt through, including some of the obstacles and points of interest they'll encounter in the field. Dragon Quest Treasures launches on Nintendo Switch this December 9. Pre-order gifts include in-game items including 5x Chimaera Wings, 15x Better Buddy Bullets, and 15x Fullheal Pellets. Welcome to Draconia DRAGON QUEST TREASURES takes place in Draconia, but it may surprise you to learn that its islands once formed the bodies of two enormous Golden Dragons. Over the eons, their rocky remains have eroded away to leave six floating islands. Excluding the central hub island, Erik and Mia can scour five very different biomes in their hunt for treasure, from volcanic mountains and bone-dry deserts to frozen wastelands. Each one is inhabited by a bevy of weird and wonderful monsters. Let’s visit each

Dragon Quest Treasures details your gang, rival gangs, and your home base
In Dragon Quest Treasures, your quest for booty has you start your very own pirate gang, where siblings Erik and Mia can recruit monsters to fight at their side and help track down the loot. Today we learn more about your home base, where you can check out your very own treasure vault and growing hoard, manage your gang, and use a variety of facilities. Naturally, Erik and Mia aren't the only ones vying Draconia's riches. You'll encounter rival games that may be hostile — gangs you'll need to best if you want to get your treasures home and preserve their valuation rating. Square Enix's Duncan Heaney, by way of the official blog, shares more information below. Dragon Quest Treasures launches December 9th for Nintendo Switch. Forming a gang With the threat of rival treasure-hunting crews looming large, Erik and Mia form a gang of their own and even manage to snag a base of operations. The name of your gang is entirely up to you! Once you've settled on a great name, it's time to choose the perfect flag. More flags can be unlocked by defeating rival gangs or exploring the far-flung reaches of Draconia. Every piece of loot you acquire adds to the total value
