Final Fantasy XVI “Salvation” launch trailer previewed at PlayStation Showcase
Square Enix highlighted a new trailer during Sony's PlayStation Showcase this afternoon, previewing nearly three minutes of footage ahead of Final Fantasy XVI's launch next month. The trailer, titled "Salvation", is fully keyed in on the game's story as well as its characters, locations and the large focus on Eikons and their role in the action battle system. It's a meaty look, and while it does have a few things we've seen already, there's plenty we haven't. In the trailer we see the harsh circumstances faced by the Bearers, those born with the ability to cast magicks at will, and we see the truth that lies behind the Mothercrystals, long supposed to have bestowed blessings upon humanity. The new trailer also offers a glimpse of the first steps of Clive Rosfield, the protagonist of the game, as he and his allies fight to take back control of their fate. Catch the full trailer in English below. We've also added some new screenshots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwWgVDIv3rs Screenshots Final Fantasy XVI will launch for PlayStation 5 on June 22.

Final Fantasy XVI main theme “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing” composed and performed by Kenshi Yonezu
During today's State of Play presentation, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida shared 20 minutes of footage that highlighted the game's fast-paced action combat and its large scale encounters with the formidable Eikons - summoned by their Dominants to devastate one another. We also got a lot of quick cuts of scenes involving some of the characters Clive will meet on his journey, and the base he'll operate from: The Hideaway. To close the presentation, Yoshida announced that Japanese artist Kenshi Yonezu will compose and perform a song for the game: "Tsuki Wo Miteita" or "Moongazing". The artist is prominently known for composing Vocaloid music under the stage name Hachi, but later released music performed with his own voice. To date, he has released five albums, the latest of which "Stray Sheep" came out in 2020 and became the world's third best selling album of the year. Yonezu wrote, shortly after the reveal: "Words cannot express the impact Final Fantasy series has had on my life. I never thought or imagined that I would ever receive an opportunity like this. I wrote this song especially for the game. Thank you." Yoshida added that he's a fan of Yonezu's work and that

Thursday State of Play to show 20 minutes of new Final Fantasy XVI gameplay
PlayStation will be showing 20 minutes of Final Fantasy XVI footage this Thursday, April 13th at 2pm Pacific, according to an official announcement today. Recently, the game's developers celebrated the game going gold, or when development on the game has completed and it is ready to be shipped. In a recent presentation at PAX, producer Naoki Yoshida mentioned that an April update would go over more of the game's non-combat objectives, such as questing, hunts, and so on - it appears this showing at State of Play may indeed show some insight into some of the side activities you'll encounter in the world of Valisthea. Aside from that, the game's official twitter has been sneaking out some short video clips, including that of Clive's trusted friend Torgal, a white chocobo with a mean stare, and an adorably rotund moogle flitting about The Hideaway - a base of sorts that Cidolfus Telamon operates that will become something of a hub Clive will return to during the game. Final Fantasy XVI is set to launch on PlayStation 5 in June 22, 2023. https://twitter.com/PlayStation/status/1645894612693688320 https://twitter.com/FF16_JP/status/1645003623024459776 https://twitter.com/FF16_JP/status/1645366015545450496 https://twitter.com/FF16_JP/status/1645728400240422914

Final Fantasy XVI has gone gold
There's good news this morning out of Square Enix as the team behind Final Fantasy XVI has confirmed the game has gone gold! That means the game is complete and ready to be pressed to disc, for those unaware of what that means. It lines up with producer Naoki Yoshida's previous promise that there wouldn't be any delays - the team was very confident. Not much followed the announcement tweet, but the message there is short and sweet: "From the entire team, including Torgal, we hope you're looking forward to #FF16's launch on June 22nd". So there you have it, FFXVI is on track for its June 22 release on PlayStation 5 and the end of the road is in sight. Final Fantasy XVI recently appeared at PAX East where it was front and center during an hour long panel that covered everything from characters, to graphics and various looks at the game world and battle system. For more on all that, check out our coverage here.

Here’s Final Fantasy XVI’s PAX East panel in full
If you missed the live presentation for Final Fantasy XVI's "Yes, You Can Pet the Torgal" panel at PAX East today, there's no need to worry. Square Enix has gone and uploaded the panel in full direct feed so you can watch it in the comfort of your own time. It's a good thing too because the earlier broadcast didn't go particularly well - cutting out at several instances during key gameplay showcases. During the panel, producer Naoki Yoshida and localization director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox covered a broad overview for the game, noting that FFXVI aims to resonate with both young and older players. To do this, the team has focused on the importance of narrative, characters, visuals and the battle system. Several videos were shown off to demonstrate these pillars, including a look at Eikons (summons) and the main characters - all using real time graphics. Several locations were also shown, detailing FFXVI's world of Valisthea. Once again, Yoshida noted that the locations seen in a walkthrough video are all real time places you can visit. Moving on, the panel also took a deeper look at the Eikons and their Dominants. Dominants are the keepers of the Eikons, or summons in

Final Fantasy XVI media tour shares new gameplay and information
The latest blitz of Final Fantasy XVI information comes to us today after the conclusion of an international media tour in which producer Naoki Yoshida, director Hiroshi Takai, battle director Ryota Suzuki, and English translation director Michael Christopher Koji Fox shared more of the game with press and influencers. In the new footage, captured by Gematsu, we see our protagonist Clive Rosfield climb through the Royal Army Waloeder Keep in search of the Eikon of Fire presumed to be imprisoned there — the same individual Clive believes murdered his brother Joshua. He is joined by Torgal the dog and Cidolfus Telamon, a Dominant who can become the Eikon Ramuh. As they ascend the tower battling enemies along the way, they are confronted by Benedikta Harman, who can become the Eikon Garuda. While tracking down the Eikon of Fire, Clive and Benedikta eventually square off against each other, invoking their eikonic powers. Battles will generally take place in two major different types. The first is Clive fighting regular enemies, using his various abilities bestowed by Eikons; Clive will also encounter special enemies or Dominants themselves as we see below — these sequences often include flashy sequences that may include quick time events to
