Octopath Trailer II details Throné the Thief and Temenos the Cleric

Square Enix’s latest update on Octopath Traveler II features information about two more of the eight protagonists you can choose from: Throné the Thief and Temenos the Cleric. Each protagonist comes from a different background and has unique “path actions” or skills they can in the field – which actually differ in day or night. They also have special latent powers and abilities they can use in combat by way of their jobs.

Additionally, we also get a look at secondary jobs, those that can be acquired and assigned to characters in addition to their primary job. For example Throné is a Thief, but can learn abilities belonging to the Cleric job if it is assigned as a secondary job. These are unlocked by obtaining the requisite license from guilds across Solistia. Support skills that are acquired from training jobs are added to a pool that can be used no matter what support job you assign; some can even be used outside of battle.

Furthermore, protagonists will cross paths on their journey, and when said two meet there will be a special scenario that plays out.

You can also check out Partitio the Merchant and Osvald the Scholar here.

Octopath Traveler II will launch on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on February 24, 2023. Square Enix has a physical Collector’s Edition for the PlayStation and Switch platforms, an exclusive to the Square Enix store.

In the east of these lands can be found Clockbank, an industrial center that has prospered ever since the Age of Discovery.

Even through the bitterly cold winter a century previous, the flame continued to warm the hearts and souls of all who visited. In both name and spirit, the Sacred Flame and its church are the divine lords of this land. At the base of the cathedral lies the small town of Flamechurch. Though its population is small, the townsfolk make a good living providing for the crowds of pilgrims who travel here to visit the cathedral.

Temenos’ Latent Power: Judgment

On the turn Judgment is activated, all of Temenos’s attacks will lower enemy Shield Points. Combine this with boosted attacks or multiple-hit skills and he can break an enemy in a single turn.

Secondary Jobs & Support Skills

Each traveler sets out with a primary job, which they can combine with a secondary job in battle as their journey progresses. Changing your secondary job also changes the weapons and skills at your disposal.

The choice is yours as to whether you develop your travelers’ strengths, compensate for their weaknesses, or something else entirely.

You can obtain licenses at various guilds throughout the world for basic jobs like Warrior and Dancer. Fulfill the guilds’ requests and you can obtain up to three licenses, allowing multiple travelers to use the same secondary job.

Some guilds operate openly in towns, while others are hidden away. Search every corner of the world to find them all.

Special jobs require a unique item known as “proof” to be used in battle. Only a single traveler can use one of these powerful jobs at a time, so choose wisely.
