Foamstars reveals February 6 release date for PlayStation Plus, March 4 for PS4, PS5

Foamstars, a new co-op shooter from publisher Square Enix and developer Toylogic, has announced that it will release on February 6th, 2024 for PlayStation Plus, a subscription service available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. Those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus will be able to redeem the game for free between launch day and March 6th, 2024, after which, the game will be sold at a premium price for $29.99 — though you must remain subscribed to PlayStation Plus to access it.

In the announcement today, Square Enix shared that the game will receive free seasonal updates for the span of one year, and said updates will include cosmetics, playable characters, maps, and game modes. A Premium Season Pass will be available for $5.99 where upon purchase you will immediately unlock Season Pass characters and earn additional season-specific cosmetics.

At launch the game will have three playable PvP modes: Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival, and Rubber Duck Party. These maps are randomized in matchmaking “to keep everyone on their toes.”

The game will also have Foamstar and Squad Missions as solo and team-based PVE modes where you will need to defend Bath Vegas from a series of randomized encounters. Missions will allow players to learn more about the Foamstar athletes themselves, practice their skills with friends, and prepare for PVP modes. In-game Challenges will include rewards like unlocking a new character or experience point bonuses.
