Life is Strange Double Exposure announced for October 29 release on PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC

Today at Microsoft’s Xbox Game Showcase, publisher Square Enix and developer Deck Nine Games revealed the newest title in the Life is Strange series, adventure games with narrative choices and supernatural elements originally developed by Dontnod Entertainment.

Life is Strange Double Exposure appears to be a sequel to the original Life is Strange game, featuring returning protagonist Max Caulfield. The resident photographer is attending the prestigious Caledon University when tragedy strikes and her new friend Safi is murdered. It’s been years since Max has used her supernatural powers to rewind time, and in doing so, she instead opens the way to a parallel timeline where her friend is still alive, but in imminent danger. In these divergent worlds, Max must find the killer before they strike again.

Double Exposure will launch on October 29th, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam or Windows Store. A Nintendo Switch version will be coming with “details to be announced later” — so a further release date may be a planned for the handheld console.

Three editions of the game will be offered: the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition. For those who pre-order, you will gain “Advanced Access” to Chapters 1 and 2 on October 15th, 2024.

More information about the game will be revealed in an upcoming livestream hosted on the official Life is Strange YouTube channel — the broadcast will air on Thursday, July 13th at 9:00am Pacific.

Recently, developers at Deck Nine Games spoke out about a toxic work culture and a demanding relationship with Square Enix that resulted in crunch and a reticence to embrace the diverse themes core to the Life is Strange series.
