Final Fantasy XI celebrates 18th anniversary with in-game event and version updates

Square Enix’s long-time running MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI, is celebrating its 18th anniversary with a special in-game event and a version update for June. Starting today and lasting until June 29th, players can receive a cute mandragora shirt and take part in the Mandragora Mania Anniversary Event to earn special currency known as “jingly” that can be spent on various items. To obtain the shirt and begin the event, players need only talk to the event NPC moogles in San d’Oria, Bastok, or Windurst.

The version update for June that was released alongside the anniversary event brings about some additional content, bug fixes and updates to Final Fantasy XI, which includes the following:

  • Monthly Ambuscade Update: The Dullahan and Pteraketos tribes return. Players can battle against these foes to accrue points to exchange them for rewards.
  • Beat the Heat Equipment Booster Campaign: From now through June 30, players can enjoy increased drop rates for seals and crests, bonus spoils when defeating specific monsters, Chocobo Digging Skill increase, double unity accolades and rewards for completing Records of Eminence objectives, and more! You can find the full list of campaign offers on the official website.
  • June Login Campaign: Players who log in throughout the month of June can exchange login points for a Poroggo Fleece Jacket.
  • Other updates include: Unity Concord Updates, new Porter Moogle Items, Alter Ego Adjustments and more. You can find the full patch notes on the official Final Fantasy XI forums.

Final Fantasy XI Online is available now on PC.
