NieR Reincarnation is a new smartphone entry in the franchise for iOS and Android devices developed by Applibot and Square Enix. A closed beta will be held between July 29th and August 25th in Japan with applicants being decided by a lottery system should entries exceed 10,000 for each platform. Registration is open now through July 26th.

Square Enix shared a new trailer that highlights sections of gameplay, including new combat and field scenes. NieR Automata character designer Akihiko Yoshida returns to design the main characters.

The Girl in White finds herself waking up in a world of the “Cage.” She has a cheerful disposition, but has a mysterious leash and bandage. Mama, a ghost-like being, guides the Girl through the Cage and often plays with its surroundings. The Dark Monster is a being resembling and armored knight or an insect who wanders through the Cage and has some sort of unmentioned purpose.
