Dragon Quest Tact is a new “simple-yet-deep” tactical RPG for iOS and Android that Square Enix is planning to bring overseas in early 2021. Announcing the localization today, the company shared 10 million players had registered to play since the title’s launch in Japan this summer.
Square Enix sets up the game’s story like so:
“Long ago, when an evil force brought the world of Orchesterra to the brink of destruction, a legendary hero led a loyal band of monsters in defiance. Thanks to their courage and wit, the dark lord was sealed away, bringing peace to the world. Ages have passed, and once again the threat of evil looms over Orchesterra — Will you rise to the task?”
In this game you’ll recruit classic Dragon Quest series monsters and battle through the world of Orchesterra using a grid-based battle system. Said monsters can be collected and trained as you go and keeping your team diverse will be important to taking on various challenges, including higher-difficulty content in the “Battle Road.”
The game will be free-to-play and feature in-app purchases. English, French, Traditional Chinese and Korean languages will be supported.
Additionally, Square Enix will be conducting a closed beta test on Android devices sometime soon. If you wish to participate, you can pre-register here.
