During the Square Enix Presents livestream event today, iconic Taito titles made a brief appearance to announce some exciting news for the fans of old-school arcade games. Both the adorable action-puzzle game, Bubble Bobble, and the space shooter, G-Darius, had a chance to shine in the spotlight and showcase trailers and new updates surrounding these two classic-style games.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back, originally released on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, is finding its new home on PC via Steam. Players interested in this bubble-centric title can visit the Steam store to add the game to their wishlist while awaiting the announcement for the official release date.

The game will allow up to four people in local multiplayer, and players can use both Steam and PlayStation 4 controllers to play the game. Keyboard controls will also be available and can be shared with one other person.

G-Darius HD “Ver. 2”

Taito and Square Enix revealed that a major content update is coming to G-Darius HD, a classic horizontal scrolling-shooter game for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 that is part of the Darius Cozmic Revelation compilation. The update is planned for a late 2021 release, and will include a new beginner’s mode and the rebalanced arcade exclusive: G-Darius Ver. 2.

Below are the list of changes in G-Darius Ver.2 (Arcade Version):

• Beginner mode
• Switched ending (Beginner mode)
• Rapid fire button
• Game speed adjustments
• Enemy endurance adjustments
• Player endurance adjustments – Mid-bosses added to some zones
• Skip function for demo screens added
• Boss timer and timer bonus added
• Calculations for score ranking changed
• Boss attack patterns changed and added

It should be noted that G-Darius Ver.2 will be it’s own version of the game, which will mean 4 versions of G-Darius will be available: The standard G-Darius and G-Darius HD, and the standard and HD versions of G-Darius Ver.2.
