"We Are Vana'diel" special site leads Final Fantasy XI 20th anniversary celebrations By Erren Van Duine on July 7, 2021 at 7:10 PM

As Final Fantasy XI approaches its milestone 20th anniversary, Square Enix has seen fit to open a brand-new website to celebrate the stories MMORPG. The website, which can be viewed here, has opened with three sections that highlight the game’s history over the past two decades.

  • We Remember Vana’diel – Covers the history of the world of Final Fantasy XI with an interactive timeline, recapping major events and announcements along with in-game stories couples with behind the scenes commentary from the development team.
  • We Discuss Vana’diel – Producer Akihiko Matsui is joined by guests to share their memories of Vana’diel including Hiromichi Tanaka, who helmed the game from its inception until 2021.
  • We Illustrate Vana’diel – A special gallery featuring art from Final Fantasy XI including artists such as Yoshitaka Amano, Tetsuya Nomura and more. Said artwork will be available as PC wallpapers.

The special website will continue to be updated with additional content so be sure to check back in the lead up to the game’s 20th anniversary.
