Front Mission 2 remake shows off its updated features

A new features trailer for the Front Mission 2 remake published by Forever Entertainment dropped today, and highlights some of the updates the team at Storm Trident has made. The original game released on the PlayStation back in 1997, and was a well-received follow up to the original that follows the events of Huffman Isle twelve years later.

A traditional turn-based tactical RPG, players fight in mecha named Wanzers that can be customized with new parts and abilities in a familiar RPG-style progression. It added an AP system that determined how many actions could be done with each unit like moving and attacking, which are restored between player and enemy turns. An Honor Point system allowed players to gain advantages when moving around near allied units.

In the remake, the team highlights an engaging storyline, strategic turn-based combat, and Wanzer customization and key draws for the game, and has “modernized” the battle scenes, added a free camera option, modern in-game effects, a “renewed” soundtrack, and 9 language options for localization.

While originally planned to launch back in June for the Nintendo Switch, the game has been delayed to a date yet undetermined.

From Forever Entertainment:

Twelve years have passed since the second Huffman conflict. The impoverished People’s Republic of Alordesh has suffered severe economic decline since the war ended. On June 12th, 2102, soldiers of the Alordesh Army rise up and, led by Ven Mackarge, declare independence from the O.C.U. (Oceania Cooperative Union). In FRONT MISSION 2: Remake, the perspective switches between three characters: Ash, Lisa, and Thomas, creating a worldview that goes beyond a simple dichotomy between good and evil.
