Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD launches today for PlayStation 4

After a bit of a wait fans can now grab a copy of Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster for the PS4 – which is out now in both physical and digital formats. After its initial release on PS3 and Vita, Square Enix has upgraded the game further for the new generation, including additional visual and audio improvements as well as everything included in the International editions of both Final Fantasy X and X-2.

Players can take advantage of the PS4’s Share features as well as a data transfer option to share save files across PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. Intact from the PlayStation 3 version, fans can also listen to the events that occur after Final Fantasy X-2 – accessible from the title screen at any time.

In addition to the visual upgrades that the main character models, textures, and backgrounds received for the PlayStation 3 remaster, more NPCs and monsters join their carefully reworked counterparts. Square Enix has also added in the option to switch back and forth between the original PS2 score and newly arranged soundtrack done up specifically for the HD release.

To celebrate the launch, Square Enix has also released a new dynamic theme to the PlayStation Store modeled after the famous “To Zanarkand” scene from the opening credits. Fans in North America can pick it up for for a one-time fee of $3.49.
