Marvel's Avengers headed to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

Square Enix announced today that Marvel’s Avengers will be coming to next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. What’s more is that if you buy the game on the current generation (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) you’ll be able to get the next-gen version free. The switch will also let you transfer your profile and progression, allowing you to resume right where you left off.

The company also shared that the next-generation version will feature “extremely fast load times, boosted resolution and fidelity, improved texturing and armor destruction, ray tracing, and more.” The PlayStation 5 version will utilize the console’s high speed SSD and the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback spatial audio. It will also let you choose between an “Enhanced Graphics Mode” or a “High Framerate” mode. You’ll also be able to play with friends no matter if you have a PS4 or PS5.

More information on the game is due this week — Square Enix will be hosting a “War Table” broadcast on Wednesday, June 24th at 10:00am Pacific Daylight Time.

Marvel’s Avengers will release on September 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version will launch Holiday 2020.
