A look at the “Future Imperfect” update in Marvel’s Avengers
The latest content update for Marvel's Avengers arrived this week, as announced on the recent Square Enix Presents Spring broadcast. Featuring Clint Barton, or "Hawkeye", the story picks up where the "Taking AIM" update left off. Clint has been rescued by the Avengers, and has a vision of an apocalyptic future where Earth has largely been destroyed by an alien race called the Kree. We play as his future self for a time, searching for Nick Fury in an attempt to make amends for abandoning the Avengers in their hour of need. Meanwhile, present-day Clint and Kate find a way travel to that same future to find a way to prevent it. Future Imperfect is about a two-hour affair that, despite being part of an unfolding story, is breezy and largely self-contained. Clint and Kate take the spotlight while the rest of the Avengers cast tag along in the literal sense. Given the length, it probably doesn't make much sense to have every Avenger have their moment, but it would have been nice if they had additional, observational dialogue. If you're like me, and not well-versed with all things Marvel, some plot beats might move along a bit too quickly to land

A look at the “Taking Aim” update in Marvel’s Avengers
The first major update following Marvel's Avengers release back in September dropped this week. It adds Kate Bishop as a new playable Hero as well as a new scenario "Taking AIM" that follows the conclusion of the Reassembled campaign the game launched with. This update comes at no additional cost to the base game. The Avengers, in their efforts to combat AIM, reunite with Kate (voiced by Ashly Burch) and join her search for her missing partner Clint Barton. Mysterious tachyon rifts that affect spacetime have been appearing all over the globe (and in missions that started appearing last month) and the Avengers believe AIM is responsible. It's a two-part story with Clint's chapter dropping next month, as part of Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' ongoing content roll-out. Kate Bishop uses a bow and sword in combat, and as you might expect, has a lot of moves that take advantage of a close or distant range. She also has a heroic ability to warp to an enemy's location and close a wide gap while dealing a lot of damage. Her abilities feel fun to play with, and in spite of the inability to fly, feels more apt to attack from a distance. While

‘Operation Kate Bishop Taking AIM’ arrives in Marvel’s Avengers on December 8
In their latest 'War Table' presentation, the Marvel's Avengers developers reveal the first large update after the game's September launch will arrive on December 8th. Such updates will be called "Operations" and the first features Kate Bishop in "Taking AIM" which introduces her as a new playable hero along with a scenario that continues after the 'Reassembled' campaign's conclusion. Investigating the disappearances of Nick Fury and her mentor Clint Barton, her path eventually crosses with the Avengers. The story will be a double-feature where Clint Barton, or Hawkeye, will be featured in the second half. Currently, the Tachyon Rift missions available in the game now will lead up to this Operation, where Kate Bishop will take a prominent role. This Operation will also introduce an "Omega-Level Threat" a boss called a Super Adaptoid that mimics the abilities of the Avengers. In the trailers below, you can check out gameplay featuring Kate Bishop, where she uses bow, sword, and warping techniques to dismantle enemies. Operation Hawkeye: Future's Imperfect will release in early 2021, and a next-generation launch of the game is also planned for early 2021. Marvel’s Avengers updates content roadmap, delays Kate Bishop update & next-gen versions
The launch of Marvel's Avengers in September has been rocky at best, with myriad issues affecting the game's matchmaking, progress-halting bugs, and disappearing skill points and costumes. Developer Crystal Dynamics acknowledged these shortcomings, committing to ongoing fixes and adjustments in a new blog post. They also shared updates about the content roadmap they've planned for the next several months. The team cite four major areas of improvement, including performance and stability tweaks that will attempt to fix the large amount of crashes reported on the PC version of the game. Matchmaking will be improved by allowing a larger pool of players to participate in a given mission and cut down on the wait to assemble a group. Exotic drops will feel unique and earned when you participate in the late-game content that bestow them. Another area the team seeks to improve is the endgame content. Recently, Mega Hives were added the the game. They're a gauntlet of back-to-back missions geared for solo players that make use of your whole hero roster. Should one hero fall, another will take their place. If all heroes fall before Mega Hive is complete, you must restart from the beginning. Based on player feedback, the team is

Marvel’s Avengers update adds new outpost and Tachyon Rift missions
The latest update to Marvel's Avengers dropped yesterday, and included another round of bug fixes and quality of life improvements (some we recorded here.) It also includes new content in the form of an outpost you can visit in the Pacific Northwest region: the SHIELD Substation Zero. It's at this location that you'll meet SHIELD's Maria Hill in person, who will elaborate on a strange temporal phenomenon that's begun to transpire. This meeting will open up a new type of daily mission called Tachyon Rifts. The tachyon storms that take place within will slowly sap your willpower (health) but heroic abilities charge at a faster rate. A timer will also tick downward, and, if it runs out, will end the mission in failure. However, you can collect tachyon particles in the field and by defeating enemies to add time to the clock, so it's important to keep moving and keep busy. Tachyon Rifts are intended for late-game play -- it's recommended that you attempt them with a Level 50 hero with a power rating of 140. Gear with a Cosmic attribute can be found by completing these missions, which will refresh daily. In the video below, we check out SHIELD Substation Zero

Marvel’s Avengers reveals ‘Kate Bishop’ post-launch hero and endgame content
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics revealed that Kate Bishop will appear in a post-launch update in late October. As part of a double-header story with the previously revealed Clint Barton Hawkeye (which comes later in November), Kate has her own unique skills in combat that set her apart. In order to access this content, you'll need to finish the 'Reassembled' campaign, which is the in-the-box story mode releasing this week. It should be noted that post-launch heroes like Kate and Clint will come at no extra cost and will feature storylines that include new villains and elements that move the plot past the base game. The War Table presentation also highlighted a variety of high-level challenges including "villain sectors" which are missions where you take on a boss with heroes that are at or near the power level cap. "SHIELD Vaults" are secret missions that you can take on to find special materials, gear, and other secrets. The AIM Secret Lab "raid" will require you to form a team of four skilled players and will end with a boss fight impacted by how well you've done. Mega Hives is a type of gauntlet where you'll use your full roster of Heroes to progress
