Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis launches December 7th on Steam

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be coming to PC via Steam on December 7th, according to Square Enix’s social media posts today.

A free-to-play smartphone title developed by Applibot (NieR Re[in]carnation) that features gacha-style design and paid transactions, Ever Crisis tells old and new stories from the Final Fantasy VII universe in chapter-based chunks. This includes an adaptation of the original game up through the Kalm flashback, the first mission in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII, and an ongoing The First Soldier scenario that delves into the past of antagonist Sephiroth. In future updates, these scenarios will receive new chapters.

Players can assemble a party of three characters chosen from each of these scenarios and engage in turn-based battles that are doled out in a mission based structure. Doing so requires you consume stamina, which depletes and can be replenished with in-game items or with real money. Characters can be customized with different weapons and materia that allow characters to use skills and magic when the ATB gauge fills to the requisite level.

Currently, the game is hosting a collaboration with Final Fantasy IX, and has just kicked off its Christmas-themed seasonal event “The Holy Flame’s Gift” where new weapons and outfits can be obtained.
