Tabata talks DLC for Final Fantasy XV, extra story being considered
During a media event following Uncovered Final Fantasy XV, which took place late last week, director Hajime Tabata talked at length about the game - including a few bits about post-launch downloadable content and VR technologies. Tabata was asked if there are plans to use the base of Final Fantasy XV's universe for Final Fantasy XVI. While the game (XVI) has yet to be officially announced by Square Enix in any capacity, he says that XV will remain its own thing. Moving on, Tabata says the FFXV team is interested in VR and they have done all sorts of tests for about a year now. If they think there is something that could work they'll consider offering it. Tabata believes that VR will be a new type of experience, rather than a limiting one. In an effort to explore additional technology readily available, the DualShock 4's touchpad will come into play, although its planned use has yet to be implemented into the game. Final Fantasy XV has free and paid DLC planned, but there isn't anything to reveal just yet as they're still working out the specifics. Since production does have its costs, paid DLC is a necessity. The team is also thinking of doing something

Final Fantasy XV’s main story upped to 50 hours, airship implementation determined
Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata let loose some new details in a NicoNico interview just ahead of the Uncovered event on March 30th. Originally, the team had planned for players to complete the game's main scenario in 40 hours - but now it will take you 50 hours. Tabata mentioned that while game doesn't run at a stable 30 frames per second at the moment, they will continue working on the framerate until the end of the game's development. Airships will be implemented in the game, and the team has now determined how that will be done. Cactuars will also appear, and are said to be very powerful - they can even dodge Noctis' souped up Shift Break (warp) abilities. Tabata calls fishing “battling with fish," and the activity will feel fairly realistic. Noctis is a prince so he hasn’t gone fishing before, but in XV he’ll go fishing for the first time and gradually, over the course of the game, get really into it. In that sense fishing isn’t just a mini-game but also part of the game’s story. Noctis' age will also be revealed at a later point. I Am Setsuna coming to the West on PS4 and Steam this Summer
Square Enix has kicked off the start of Game Developer's Conference this week, revealing Tokyo RPG Factory's I Am Setsuna (known as Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna) is heading overseas this summer. Despite releasing on disc in Japan, Square Enix is opting for a digital only release in the west - launching for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game released last month in Japan for both PS4 and PS Vita. Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory has been inspired of JRPGs of old - in particular, Chrono Trigger. Their aim is to bring back the “authentic RPG gameplay, beautiful art design, and sorrowful story” of classic Japanese RPGs to current generation platforms and technologies. Final Fantasy XV director hopes the ending will make fans cry
In the April 2016 issue of Game Informer magazine, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata expressed that he hopes that the ending of the game will make players cry. He says fans who devote so much time playing the game deserve to get an emotional ending. "I want to create a very emotional ending to the game and want to make as many people cry as possible," he told Game Informer. "You're spending so many hours playing the game, so when I finish a game and it ends on a sour note and it doesn't move me, it gets me disappointed. At least make me cry or give me some emotion! I want to give a moving ending for the consumers who invest so much time." He later moved on to say that he also hopes that Final Fantasy XV will have a similar impact in the community that Final Fantasy VII had. "There are some team members that were here for VII," he said. "They're taking on the challenge of trying to exceed that title once more, which is a great motivator for them. FFVII sets a very high goal for us, but it serves as a good goal. It brought in
