Project Athia unveiled as Forspoken in new announcement trailer
During today’s Square Enix Presents event, the previously announced Project Athia made a surprise appearance toward the end of the stream. Though the trailer itself is brief and does not delve into too much detail, we were at least granted a sneak peek at some gameplay as well as learning the game’s official title: Forspoken. Forspoken follows the story of Frey Holland (Played by Ella Balinska), an ordinary woman who somehow ends up in the fantasy world of Athia, where she must use her magical abilities to survive the dangerous world. “As the first video game I’ve worked on, and growing up a huge fan of video games myself, it’s remarkable to see the incredible world and story of Forspoken come together, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy,” said Balinska. “Frey as a character is real, she’s raw, she’s a girl who lost her way—both figuratively and literally—and is a character I immediately connected with, as I feel many people around the world will too when they set off on this adventure.” Forspoken is set to release in 2022 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Sony CES presentation states ‘Project Athia’ planned for January 2022
Revealed last June, Project Athia is developed by Square Enix studio Luminous Productions and is coming to PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. According to Sony's CES 2021 presentation, the game is planned for a January 2022 release. The sole trailer we've seen thus far features woman in a world “not her own” where her “resolve will be tested” against creatures such as dragons and giant plant-like beasts, and “truths will be questioned.” Luminous Productions formed after the conclusion of Final Fantasy XV and also houses Square Enix's proprietary "Luminous Engine" from which Project Athia will be developed. Update: Sony has uploaded an updated version of their broadcast that scrubs release information for several titles including Project Athia. Project Athia listed for 24 months console exclusivity on PS5
Square Enix and Luminous Studio's upcoming PlayStation 5 and PC title - currently known as Project Athia - was shown off today in a new trailer from Sony, along with some new, albeit small information on the game's exclusivity status. According to a disclaimer in the video, the game is console exclusive to PS5 for at least 24 months. It's also coming to PC presumably alongside the PS5 version, but for those looking to get the game elsewhere you'll be waiting quite a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KROCZ1q4OE&feature=emb_title This isn't the first time Sony has nabbed long-term exclusivity in recent years. Final Fantasy VII Remake is also PS4 exclusive until at least April 2021. It remains to be seen where the game will head after that time period is up. Additionally, the recently revealed Final Fantasy XVI is PlayStation 5 exclusive for, as of now, an indeterminate amount of time.

Project Athia announced for PlayStation 5 and PC
During the PlayStation "The Future of Gaming" livestream event, Square Enix and Luminous Productions revealed their next upcoming title: Project Athia. Very little was revealed about what the game will entail, save for that it appears to a third-person action title of sorts, and that will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC. The trailer featured a woman in a world "not her own" where her "resolve will be tested" against creatures such as dragons and giant plant-like beasts, and "truths will be questioned." Update: A trailer has been posted! Additionally, the description provides some insights into this new title, and reveals Project Athia is a "story-led, action packed adventure" that embraces Luminous Productions' philosophy to create a "completely new and fresh gaming experience that fuses together the latest technologies with art."
