It wouldn’t be Final Fantasy VII without materia. There are various kinds of materia you can slot into your weapons which are grouped into different types. You can also see slotted materia equipped in your weapons while you move around the game.

Healing Materia

Healing Materia lets you use spells like Cure and Cura to recover health.

Aerith using the Regen spell to recover health slowly over time.

Independent Materia

Deathly Dodge Materia will turn any attack after evasion into a powerful wide ranged attack. Any character can use it, not just Cloud.

Equipped weapons are reflected in and out of battle to let you see which weapon you have equipped. Below is an image of Cloud using the iconic joke weapon Nail Bat to attack his foes.

Mercenary Quests

As Cloud is known as being a mercenary, people around Midgar will ask him for his help in the form of quests. These range from fighting monsters or finding lost cats.

Quest to defeat feathered lizards known as Drakes.

Summons are a staple of Final Fantasy and are a powerful type of Materia in the world of Final Fantasy VII. Equipping one allows you to summon forth a powerful ally into battle.

Final Fantasy VII Remake reimagines iconic Midgar locations that you’re familiar with, but also expands on it by introducing new areas that weren’t in the original game.

A Mako Reactor which sucks up Mako from the core of the planet. The Shinra Electric Power company turns this energy into power to fuel the massive city as well as use it in scientific research and Materia production.

The Corkscrew Tunnel connects the streets of the slums beneath the rotten pizza. The tunnel coils upwards through the center of Midgar. This transit system is where the trains of Midgar run.

Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out April 10th for PlayStation 4.

Marvel’s Avengers E3 Q&A – Day 2

The Marvel’s Avengers team just finished up another Q&A session for Day 2 of E3. There will be one more Q&A session for tomorrow, the last day of E3.

What is this game?
It’s a single player narrative driven cinematic game, but it’s also a hybrid. Events take place which split the Avengers apart. The story takes you to different places playing different characters. You can choose how you want to play these missions with which character as you unlock them. You can play alone or with your friends. There’s a lot of choice in how you can play the game.

Why aren’t these the MCU characters?
We wanted to create an original Avengers story. Their uniforms, their choices are all around our story. We cast everyone differently, pulled information from the comic books, worked with Marvel to get the best choices for this story.

How many more heroes will be added post launch?
We plan to release additional heroes and regions at regular intervals at no additional cost. We’re excited to add characters from the Avengers’ roster spanning over 80 years of history. This story allows for quite a diverse cast of heroes.

Can you talk about the diversity of regions?
The Avengers are a global team. We want to add areas that can span across the globe and fit well with the different ways characters can traverse across these areas.

Can you control them freely or are you limited in movement?
In certain story situations where you will be restricted in a linear fashion, but outside of that you’ll have free movement across these areas.

Does gear affect the stats of your character?
There’s cosmetics that don’t affect the gameplay, but there’s also a gear and progression systems that do affect the gameplay. We wanted to separate these two to allow you to look the way you want and play the way you want. Also, no pay to win.

Are missions based on specific heroes?
The narrative dictates which hero you play as.

We saw Iron Man in space. Is this an explorable area?
We can’t speak about this right now. He is in space, it is awesome, but that’s about all we can say.

Will there be free roam?
You can roam freely in these level regions.

Will there be vehicles?
The characters have their own traversal methods to get around that are unique to each character. Although, it would be pretty cool to see Hulk driving a car.

Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. PlayStation 4 owners will get access to beta as well as other unannounced perks

Marvel’s Avengers E3 Q&A

The Marvel’s Avengers Twitter just published a short Q&A session for Day 1 of their E3 coverage. In this short broadcast, they asked Rose Lead Producer and Phil Lead Designer on Marvel’s Avengers eight questions selected from the fans on Twitter.

Can one play the game totally single player offline and not online?
Yes. However, it’s strongly encouraged that you play with friends as it’s a lot more fun. You can do pretty much everything offline though.

How does multiplayer work?
There’s a robust campaign where you play different heroes throughout the story. There will also be a base of operations where you can go and play multiplayer missions or the standard campaign. You’ll be able to go to many different places throughout the world.

Will there be a skill tree or leveling up?
Each character gets their own skill tree. Players will be able to create unique heroes based on what skills they choose over someone else. For example, you can focus on melee or ranged for Captain America, unlock different skills or the type of gear set that your hero has as well as your outfit.

Can you explain more about customization?
You can customize costumes, skills, gear etc. Some costumes might have a helmet or not. Marvel is working directly with the development team to allow for a wide range of costumes from over 10 years of comics.

Is this a story driven or games as a service?
This will be a story driven game, but there will be updates to the game over time at no additional cost. You’ll be able to play this game and when new content comes out like a new hero or a new area and you won’t have to pay any additional cost.

Will there be replayability?
You can run through a mission with one character and come back later with a different character for a completely different experience.

Is the beta just for the PS4?
No, the beta is for everyone. The PS4 gets an early beta, but everyone will be able to play the beta.

Can we expect improvement to the graphics?
The game is currently in an alpha state, so expect to see graphical improvements before the game launches.

Is this game open world?
The game is way too big to be an open world game. That’s why we have different areas split up that you can access from the hub and we feel that it benefits the game a lot better for it. We have opportunity to create diverse areas instead of just one big open world. There will also be more areas added into the game over the lifecycle of the game, again for no additional cost.

Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. PlayStation 4 owners will get access to beta as well as other unannounced perks
