NieR Reincarnation final chapter arrives March 28, end of service on April 29, 2024

NieR Re[in]carnation, a free to play smartphone RPG from Square Enix and developer Applibot, will be ending service on April 29, 2024, in announcement by the game’s official social media accounts.

Originally released back in 2021, the game features a mysterious young girl who is trapped in a massive tower called “The Cage”. As she explores, she encounters the stories of many different characters who can then be recruited into a party and take part in turn-based battles.

The final chapter of “The People and The World” will release on March 28, 2024, and will complete the story. Until then, there will be several content updates and campaigns, including the celebration of the game’s 3rd anniversary and the debut of a new character. This, according to a timeline the team posted as part of their end of service announcement.

NieR Re[in]carnation is the latest closure it what seems to be a culling of free to play smartphone games at Square Enix, following the end of Dragon Quest Tact, Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier, and Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, just to name a few.

“We regret to inform you that NieR Re[in]carnation will be ending service with the conclusion of The People and the World.

The final chapter of The People and the World is planned to be released Mar. 28, 2024. The game will run for a month following the final chapter’s release until Apr. 29, 2024 22:00 PST when service will officially end.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our players for your patronage over the 2.5 years since we launched on July 28, 2021.

Until the end of service, we will continue to add content and characters, as well as hold various events and campaigns, so we hope you will continue to enjoy NieR Re[in]carnation until the end.”
